The proliferation of Internet has been another warning bell for conventional broadcast radio. Numbers of listener gradually shift to the new mean of media as it is more attractive and convenient for users. The situation drives radio managers to adapt with various ways. Developing audio podcast is among the strategy that has been growing in the United States and various countries in Europe, but not yet quite popular in Indonesia. Whereas the potential audience is quite large, since the growing number of commuters and fact that about 30% of total population is categorized as auditory learner. For such reason, this library research is conducted to explore the opportunities for audio podcast to develop in Indonesia, as well as content analysis of some of the most successful podcast provider sites. The results show that audio podcast optimization strategy includes the development of podcast materials with appropriate approach and content distribution with audience’s needs, wants, and ways of consuming audio content; as well as the compatibility of the content with the character and orientation of the media. In addition, this effort must also be accompanied by intensive campaigns through various way.

Kompas.id merupakan strategi harian Kompas dalam mempertahankan eksistensinya di tengah gempuran media digital dan menurunnya tiras surat kabar. Keberadaan Kompas.id tersebut berimplikasi pada internal Kompas, khususnya dari sisi redaksi dan konten. Redaksi harian Kompas kini menambah dua desk baru untuk menangani produksi berita di Kompas.id, yaitu desk digital harian dan desk digital mingguan. Sementara dari sisi konten, Kompas.id didesain lebih beragam dengan memanfaatkan teknologi untuk membuat konten multimedia dan interaktif. Namun, bukan berarti produk Kompas.id berbeda dengan koran harian Kompas karena berita-berita yang diterbitkan pada harian Kompas juga menjadi bagian dalam Kompas.id. Meski telah memasuki ranah digital, Kompas.id dibuat dengan semangat untuk tetap mempertahankan jurnalisme khas harian Kompas. Strategi bisnis Kompas.id dirancang dengan konsep berlangganan atau dikenal dengan istilah digital subscription. Kompas menyediakan beberapa paket berlangganan sesuai keinginan dan kebutuhan pembacanya. Harian Kompas menjadi surat kabar pionir dalam menciptakan media digital subscription sebagai ekstensi dari korannya. Hal itu dilakukan lantaran Kompas ingin para pembaca tetap memberikan harga pada aspek jurnalisme seperti pada korannya.
Tirto.id uses infographics on its Instagram account "tirtoid" as an attempt to enlarge the online media market. The strategy that is called cross-media refers to diversification and integration decisions of different media platforms. This study is an inquiry of how the cross-media strategy occurs on tirtoid Instagram account using Infographic as the main feature through the case study method. The data collection techniques using interviews, observation, and literature reviews. The results showed that four reasons motivated the use of infographics on tirtoid Instagram account; segmentation of audiences, the character of the platform, the ease of production, and the character of the company. These reasons were conformed with the concept of cross-media strategy that emphasizing the appropriateness of media choices and the content presented. In the producing process of infographics, there are six stages implemented by Tirto.id. Tirtoid gives unique characteristics to its infographics based on the principles and ethics of journalism. Tirto.id uses the principles of reuse, repackaging, and recreating in the distribution and development of infographic content on Instagram, which builds agenda setting practices. This cross-media strategy of using Instagram has an impact on the increasing need for production team Human Resources (HR), brand strengthening, and opening of new marketing opportunities.
Radio komunitas hadir sebagai bagian dari pemerataan kebutuhan informasi sejalan dengan demokrasi yang semakin tumbuh. Radio Mandalla 107.8 FM, adalah radio komunitas kampus yang dikelola oleh kampus untuk memenuhi kebutuhan kampus dalam penyebaran informasi. Uniknya radio komunitas ini mengklaim sebagai radio dakwah, yaitu menyebarkan informasi yang bertemakan Islam. Penilitian ini ingin mengetahui persepsi khalayak terhadap Radio Mandalla, dalam memenuhi kebutuhan dan kepuasan khalayaknya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Data primer penelitian ini diperoleh dari hasil kuesioner kepada responden berjumlah 41 orang dengan menggunakan teknik berdasarkan tujuan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan lebih dari 50% khalayak memberi nilai cukup tinggi kepada Radio Mandalla karena kebutuhan dan kepuasan mereka terhadapat informasi yang diberikan media tersebut terpenuhi. Khalayak menggunakan Radio Mandalla sebagai media untuk mencari informasi, sebagai media interaksi, dan penguatan eksistensi kelompok minoritas dalam masyarakat. Selain itu, Radio Mandalla merupakan salah satu media komunitas yang masih menjalankan peran dan fungsinya dengan baik, yakni dari, oleh, untuk komunitas.
