Intracranial cystic meningiomas are usually benign that occur in relatively young patients. Resection of cysts that show contrast enhancement is essential to reduce recurrence.
It is demonstrated that under almost physiological conditions the absorption of urea increases from healthy, to congested, to inflamed urinary bladders. The following absorption rates of urea for different kinds of urinary bladders per hour were found: healthy 6%, congested 43%, inflamed 76%, congested and inflamed 66%, with haemorrhagic cystitis 90%.
In order to examine the absorption of the normal urinary components of the bladder under almost physiological conditions, an experimental model with rabbits was developed. After several preliminary experiments the following method was chosen: (1) ligature of both the ureters and the urethra in order to stop the urine flow to and from the bladder, as otherwise the absorbed test substance circulates back to the bladder; (2) sounding of the bladder via the ureter for instillation and emptying of the bladder; (3) sounding of the ureters via proximal for collecting urine of the renal pelvis; (4) puncture of the aorta for periodical withdrawal of larger blood volumes.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
