The industry 4.0 marks the fast-growing technology in many fields in order to achieve process efficiency in all of aspect of the industries, including education. The efficiency is derived from a big data, a real-time dataset collected from a vast amount of data from many instruments. Big data processing is used to predict market trends, discover new problem-solving and many more. Critical thinking, statistics, computing and the ability to understand how the world works are among important factors that has to be needed in big data processing. Among those abilities, critical thinking is an essential ability influencing directly the big data processing because this ability can aid students to decide the best alternative solutions in solving a problem. Nevertheless, the lack of good educational platform to host such important skills in the current Indonesian education makes it harder to cultivate good human resources that are able to comprehend big data processing. Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) is known to be the holistic educational approach that combines various disciplines into one set of educational approach to help students gain more skills and sharpen their knowledge in regards of the fast-growing industry 4.0 in Indonesia.
Self-efficacy is the ability to perform in dealing with various activities. Changes in learning activities due to Covid-19 affect the learning environment which has an impact on selfefficacy. This study aims to obtain an explanation of mathematics self-efficacy and its relationship with mathematics performance in online learning. The sample in this study was the mathematics performance score on trigonometry, and the Mathematics self-efficacy score of 75 students at one of the universities in Mataram. This research is a correlational research. The research instruments were in the form of a Mathematics Self-efficacy questionnaire and mathematics performance scores on trigonometry. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to measure the mean and standard deviation of mathematical self-efficacy and analysis of the correlation between mathematical self-efficacy and mathematics performance. The results showed that most respondents had a high level of mathematical self-efficacy in online learning. Further analysis shows that there is a positive relationship between mathematics self-efficacy and mathematics performance, with an R coefficient of 14.8%. These results explain that variations in Mathematics performance can be explained by variations in Mathematics self-efficacy of 14.8%.
One of students' abilities which can facilitate them to understand geometric concepts is spatial reasoning ability. Spatial reasoning ability can be defined as an ability involving someone's cognitive processing to present and manipulate spatial figures, relationship, and figure formations. This research aims to find out significant difference on students' spatial reasoning ability between students who are given Model Eliciting Activities with Cabri 3D (MEAC) and those who are only given Model Eliciting Activities (MEA). Quasi experimental design is used in this research which involves 143 junior high school students as the sample. The result of this research shows that students who are given Model Eliciting Activities with Cabri 3D have better spatial reasoning ability than those who are given Model Eliciting Activities. It is suggested for Matematics teachers to implement instruction with Model Eliciting Activities with Cabri 3D.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
