RESUMOObjetivo: O presente estudo tem como objetivo enfatizar a importância da monitoria acadêmica, na modalidade de consulta de enfermagem, constituindo um diferencial curricular e a oportunidade de adquirir experiências e de exercer a Enfermagem de acordo com a resolução COFEN 159/93. Metodologia: Tratase de um estudo baseado em relatos de experiências dos acadêmicos de enfermagem da Faculdade Bezerra de Araújo do 9° período. Resultados: Embora seja implantada na maioria das instituições de âmbito privado ou público, a monitoria acadêmica constitui uma modalidade de ensino e aprendizagem que contribui de forma muito positiva na formação dos acadêmicos visando seu desenvolvimento crítico e reflexivo, e a aplicação na prática dos conhecimentos teóricos e práticos adquiridos em sala de aula durante todo o curso. Conclusão: O fortalecimento desta modalidade é extremamente necessário, estando diretamente associado à capacidade de autonomia e poder decisório do graduando. ABSTRACTObjective: The present study aims to emphasize the importance of academic monitoring, in the form of nursing consultation, constituting a curricular differential and the opportunity to acquire experiences and to practice Nursing in accordance with resolution COFEN 159/93. Methods: This is a study based on reports from the nursing students of the Bezerra de Araújo Faculty of the 9th period. Results: Although it is implemented in most private or public institutions, academic monitoring is a modality of teaching and learning that contributes in a very positive way in the training of academics with a view to their critical and reflective development and the practical application of theoretical and practical knowledge acquired in the classroom throughout the course. Conclusion: The strengthening of this modality is extremely necessary, being directly associated to the capacity of autonomy and decision making power of the graduate.
