A capacitação profissional é necessária para o desempenho profissional.Como resultados da pesquisa, evidenciou-se a carência de treinamentos direcionados ao setor. Quanto às dificuldades enfrentadas, as enfermeiras descrevem a deficiência de recursos materiais, uma equipe reduzida e as limitações para integração com os outros setores. A importância desse profissional na comissão das instituições hospitalares é historicamente comprovada, a divulgação das suas atividades, sua finalidade e importância passam a ser um desafio e uma nova perspectiva como elo para as ações planejadas na busca de prevenção e controle de infecção. AbstractThe aim of this study was to describe the role of nurses in the prevention and control of infections related to health care in the Hospital Infection Control Committees of four units of the public health from the city of Porto Velho-RO. This is a descriptive, qualitative, phenomenological and epistemological study. The sample consisted of 05 senior nurses working in committee. Professional training is required for professional performance. The results of the research revealed a lack of training targeted to the sector. As difficulties encountered, nurses describe the deficiency of material resources, reduced staff, and the limitations for integration with other sectors. The importance of this professional in the commission of the hospitals is historically proven, the disclosure of their activities, their purpose and importance, become a challenge and a new perspective as a link to the actions planned in the search for prevention and control of infection.
