Lack of understanding of hypertension and its prevention in the community and still lack of health checks such as blood pressure and cholesterol checks so that the need and importance of community service in order to prevent comorbid diseases Covid-19. One way to prevent Covid-19 comorbid disease is to educate about hypertension, symptoms / signs and prevention against hypertension so that the public knows more about hypertension and can prevent suffering from hypertension, as well as free health checks that include blood pressure and cholesterol checks in the community in Jati Karya village, North Binjai sub-district and this is the purpose of this community service activity. Active Participant Community Based conducted in the form of training with the Active Participants Learning method and conducted health examinations including blood pressure and cholesterol checks, as well as monitoring and evaluation activities of community service. The results of the pre-test and post-test analysis based on the T-test showed a significant increase in patient knowledge (p<0.05).
Masalah penggunaan obat tidak rasional merupakan masalah yang menjadi perhatian besaroleh Kementerian Kesehatan Indonesia. Pada masyarakat seringkali dijumpai berbagai masalahdalam penggunaan obat, misalnya penggunaan obat bebas secara tidak tepat dan kurangnyapemahaman tentang cara menggunakan, cara menyimpan dan membuang obat-obatan secara tidaktepat. Hal ini disebabkan masih kurangnya pemahaman masyarakat dan perilaku yang salah dalampenggunaan obat. Oleh karena itu, untuk meningkatkan pemahaman masyrakat dalam penggunaanobat perlu dilakukan edukasi kepada masyarakat mengenai pemilihan obat dan penggunaan obatyang rasional melalui pelatihan yang merupakan bagian dari Gerakan Masyarakat CerdasMenggunakan Obat (GeMaCerMat).Pelatihan GeMaCerMat ini menggunakan metode Cara Belajar Ibu Aktif (CBIA). Metode inisesuai digunakan untuk melakukan edukasi tentang penggunaan obat rasional terutama dalampenggunaan obat swamedikasi dan metode ini kami tawarkan dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini.Hal inikarena sasaran dari pengabdian ini merupakan ibu rumah tangga yang mempunyai peranan pentinguntuk mengambil keputusan dalam penggunaan obat di keluarga. Metode CBIA ini dibagi dalam 3tahapan: kegiatan I dan II dilakukan dalam kelompok, dan kegiatan III dilakukan secara individualdi rumah dan dievaluasi dalam pertemuan berikutnya.Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini sangat membantu dan dapat memberikanmanfaat yang baik kepada masyarakat karena kegiatan ini dapat memberikan dampak yang cukupbesar terhadap kesehatan masyarakat. Kegiatan pengabdian ini terbukti mampu meningkatkanpersepsi dan pemahaman masyarakat terhadap penggunaan obat-obatan secara rasional terutamaobat-obatan yang diguna sebagai pengobatan swamedikasi. Metode kegiatan CBIA sebagai metodepembelajaran kepada masyarakat banyak digunakan dan sangat efektif sebagai metode edukasikesehatan kepada masyarakat.
BACKGROUND: Drug-related problems (DRPs) and errors occur frequently in general health and pediatric care due to several reasons.
AIM: This study aims to determine the DRPs incidence in pediatric inpatients utilizing antibiotics in Universitas Sumatera Utara Hospital, Medan, Indonesia.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: It was carried out in May–July 2019 using a retrospective cross-sectional method and the data obtained from June to December 2018.
RESULTS: In the aforementioned hospital, the medical records of patients were 575 among which 135 (23.47%) met the inclusion criteria and the males, 84 (62.22%) were higher than females. Furthermore, majority of them, 55 (40.74%) were 5–11 years old, and 86 (63.70%) had a maximum stay length of ≥5 days. There were 73 DRPs events in 37 patients, namely, 46 (63.01%) low doses, 22 (30.14%) overdoses, 2 (2.74%) side effects of drugs, and 3 (4.11%) drug interactions. The most experienced antibiotic DRPs were in cefotaxime 14 (19.17%) and the most diagnosed was in appendicitis 14 (10.37%) utilization.
CONCLUSION: There were antibiotic DRPs in pediatric inpatients in Universitas Sumatera Utara Hospital, Medan.
