This study aimed to describe the effectiveness and differences of scientific approach with open-ended problem based learning worksheet and scientific approach. The population in this study was students of class VII of SMP Negeri 17 Pamulang, South Tangerang. The sample of this study was determined randomly. They were two classes and the results were VII.3 and VII.4. To determine the effectiveness, one sample t-test was used. To discover the difference of effectiveness, MANOVA (Hotteling's Trace) test was used. The results show that (1) Scientific approach with open-ended problem based learning worksheet and scientific approach are effective viewed from learning achievement, creative thinking ability, interests and mathematic self-efficacy (2) There is no difference in effectiveness between scientific approach with open-ended problem based learning worksheet with scientific approach viewed from learning achievement, creative thinking ability, interests and mathematic self-efficacy (3) Scientific approach with open-ended problem based learning worksheet are more effective than scientific approaches viewed from student achievement
Effectiveness of CTL and discovery approach viewed from students’ achievement, critical thinking ability, and math anxiety AbstractThis study aimed to describe the effectiveness and difference of effectiveness between of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) and discovery approach viewed from students’ learning achievement, critical thinking ability, and math anxiety. This research was quasi experiment with nonequivalent groups prestest-posttest design. The population in this study was all students of class X of SMAN 2 Ngaglik. The sample of the study was the students of X MIA 2 and X MIA 4 which is determined randomly from four classes which each of that classes consist of 31 students. The instruments used to collect data were a learning achievement test consisting of 20 multiple choice questions, a critical thinking ability test consisting of 5 essays, and math anxiety questionnaires that consisted of 32 statements. To determine the effectiveness of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) and Discovery approach, one sample t-test was used. To discover the difference of effectiveness between Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach and Discovery approach MANOVA (Hotteling’s Trace) was used. The results show that (1) Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) and Discovery approach are effective viewed from student’s learning achievement, critical thinking ability, and math anxiety,(2) there is no difference in effectiveness between Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach and Discovery approach viewed from student’s learning achievement, critical thinking ability, and math anxiety.
This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the scientific approach with comic saintific media on mathematics subject which is measured through an analysis of differences in learning achievement, learning interest, and curiosity in learning mathematics between before and after being taught through a scientific approach with comic scientific media. This research approach is quantitative with the type of Quasi Experimental Design method of Time Series Design. The population in this study were fourth grade students, in elementary schools in Bojongsari, Depok, with a sample of SD Nurul Hidayah, SD Tadikapuri, SD Permata Bunda. Data collection instruments were in the form of items, interest learning questionnaire sheets, and curiosity questionnaire sheets. Data analysis techniques in the form of testing hypotheses using statistics Paired Sample t Test with data preconditions must be normally distributed. The results showed that: 1) there were differences in students mathematics learning achievement before and after being taught with a scientific approach with comic scientific media, with an average pretest achievement of 65.7917 and posttest achievement of 79.1458; 2) there are differences in students interest in learning mathematics before and after being taught with a scientific approach with comic scientific media, with an average pretest interest of 66.1667 and a posttest interest of 80.0417; 3) there are differences in curiosity in learning mathematics before and after being taught with a scientific approach with comic scientific media, with an average pretest curiosity of 68,9123 and a posttest of 81,4123.
Blind students who do not have intellectual disabilities should study in inclusive schools. This is because they are the same as regular students who are able to learn and construct learning experiences well. They must get the best learning facilities to be successful. The purpose of this study was to produce a mathematics learning strategy book for blind students in junior high school. This book contains a general description of the characteristics of blind students, how to teach mathematics to blind students and class management strategies. This study is categorized as research and development. Development model in this study was adapted from Borg & Gall. The research instruments were validation sheets, questionnaire assessment for teachers and questionnaire assessment for students. . Data analysis was done by converting the quantitative data into qualitative data in the form specified categories. This research resulted a mathematics learning strategy book for blind students in junior high school that proper to use because the book is valid and practical
