Today the number of universities equipped with learning management system is increasing, however its potential cannot be used as it was intended. Edmodo is one of the learning management system that can be used to support social aspect of learning. Also, effective use of Edmodo like learning management systems needs to be studied over more to achieve better integration. Recognizing attitudes of the students towards this kind of supplementary tool in a higher education institution ensure quality and success. The purpose of this study was to investigate what the students' attitude towards Edmodo learning management system and to determine its accomplishment. Fifty college students in an "Introduction to Computer" course for pre-service teachers participated in the study. The author collected data through interviews and document analysis. Researcher interviewed with 10 of the students after the course and reviewed the students' posts on Edmodo. Interview records and document analysis on Edmodo posts were used to increase in depth understanding about students' attitude and accomplishment of Edmodo use as a supplementary tool. The results of these qualitative data collected via interviews revealed that students had a positive attitude towards Edmodo, and they thought that it is a good tool to improve students' learning opportunities through active participation and communication. They want to be active in classroom and they want to develop a warm relationship with instructors by means of this kind of learning management tools.
The aim of this research paper is to determine habit of using the social media and correlation of social media addiction, selfesteem, perceived social support in adolescent with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. The sample of this research is composed of 75 adolescents who were between 12-18 year-old, diagnosed and treated as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder with respect to DSM-V criterion by a child and adolescent psychiatry expert. They were applied to Mersin University, Child and adolescent psychiatry polyclinic between March 2016-May 2016. 26 of the participants were female, 49 of them were male. Socio-demographic information form, Rosenberg self-esteem scale and perceived social support scale were carried out to the participants. In this study, information about socio-demographic information of adolescent with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and habits of using social media were presented. The findings of this study revealed that there was a small correlation between social media addiction and self-esteem but there is no correlation between social media addiction and perceived social support in adolescent with ADHD. In order to overcome the tendency of social media addiction in adolescent with ADHD, it is important that patients should comply with treatment, families should handle adolescent period appropriately with proper social support and constructive approaches to support self-esteem of adolescent with ADHD. Araştırmanın örneklemini, Mersin Üniversitesi, Tıp Fakültesi, Çocuk ve Ergen Ruh Sağlığı ve Hastalıkları Polikliniği'ne Mart 2016-Mayıs 2016 tarihleri arasında başvuran ergenler arasından çocuk ve ergen psikiyatri uzmanı tarafından DSM -V ölçütlerine göre tanı alan, çalışmaya katılmaya gönüllü 12-18 yaş arasındaki tedavi almakta alan 75 ergen oluşturmaktadır. Katılımcıların 26 tanesi kız, 49 tanesi erkektir. Katılımcılara sosyo-demografik bilgi formu, Rosenberg benlik saygısı ölçeği ve algılanan sosyal destek ölçekleri uygulanmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında dikkat eksikliği ve hiperaktivite bozukluğu olan ergenlerin demografik bilgileri ile sosyal medya kullanım alışkanlıkları ile ilgili veriler paylaşılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular incelendiğinde, ergenlerde sosyal medya bağımlılığı ile benlik saygısının negatif yönde anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu ve algılanan sosyal destekle, sosyal medya bağımlılığı arasında anlamlı bir ilişki olmadığı bulunmuştur. In this chapter, the main purpose is to explain design, development, delivery, and evaluation process of a new distance web design course for the needs of students in a vocational higher education institution. It is important to highlight how wisely instructional technology was designed and used to mitigate problems to effectively support the course. Proactive action research was used as a framework of the study. This research focused on an analysis of the existing face-to-face course to mitigate its problems in the new design. Then, strengths and weaknesses of the new design in the new context were investigated. It is important to highlight that technology comes with its unique problems and opportunities. Thus, teaching in a technological environment confronts instructors with a wide range of pedagogical, technological, and physical challenges.
