ÖzGünümüzde bireyin toplum içerisinde varoluşu toplumsal hayat açısından bakıldığında kentler içerisindeki kamusal mekânlar çok önemli bir yere sahiptir. Toplumların, kentlerin ve bireylerin yaşam kalitesi düzeyinin belirleyicisi rolüne sahip olan kamusal mekânların estetik düzeyini oluşturan içerik bu belirleyicilik sayesinde oluşmaktadır. Üretim, tüketim ve tasarım süreçleri, bireyin varlığını gösterdiği, iktidar çatışmalarının yapıldığı, gündelik yaşam biçiminin merkezinde yer aldığı kamusal mekânları doğrudan etkilemektedir. Sanat, kamusal alanda yer bulduğu derecede bireyin ve toplumların bu alan ile ilişkisi ve etkileşiminde bağımsız bir şekilde yaşamaktadır. Kamusal alanlarda yer alan sanat eylemleri mekân, içerik, oluşum ve üretim perspektifinden bakıldığında dikkate alınmayı gerektirmektedir. Özgür bireyin mekânı kamusal alanlar birçok sanatsal hareketi kendi içerisinde üretmektedir. Kamusal alan içerisinde yer alan duvarlar; içinde bulunduğu sisteme hizmet ettiği kadar birçok görüşün karşısında bireysel, toplumsal mücadelelerin veya sanatsal eylemlerin gösterildiği bir araç olmaktadır. Karşı kültürün kendini ifade etme biçimi olarak karşımıza çıkan grafitiler, birbirinden farklı projeler ile gündeme gelmektedir. Kadıköy Belediyesi tarafından düzenlenen Mural İstanbul Festivali projesi de bunlardan biridir. 2012 yılında başlayan bu proje kapsamında İstanbul'un Kadıköy ilçesinde bulunan bazı yapılara mural sanatçıları tarafından uygulamalar yapılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada; kamusal alan içerisinde oluşturulan eserlerin anlamının değerlendirilmesi amacıyla festival kapsamında üretilen mural çalışmaları incelenerek, bu eserlerin kamusal alanla olan ilişkileri ve katkıları irdelenmiştir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Kamusal Alan, Kamusal Sanat, Mural Sanatı, İstanbul, Sokak Sanatı, Grafiti. The walls in the public space; it is a means by which individual, social struggles, or artistic actions are shown in the face of many opinions as much as it serves the system in which it is located. In this research, it is aimed to represent the elements in oral and written traditions such as mythology, epic and story on the virtual reality environment. Mythology has always been used for generating visual design elements. As an example, Miyazaki's cartoons are great examples of Japan mythology-based character designs. There are also many cartoon and film products of Greek mythology. In contrast, despite rich visual contents of Turkish mythology, Turkish mythological elements aren't used sufficiently for visual design or analyzed scientifically in detail. Not only Graphic design, but also many other fields has changed in many ways throughout the information age. Audiences of various products have been lost within the information masses that have still been increasing day by day. Therefore, presentation and visualization of information has been becoming more important than ever. With the development of internet and mobile technologies, thousands of visual designs are being shared every day. This situation leads to visual pollution that makes communication harder with people. At this point, minimalist approaches have been played an important role to solve complexity and communication issues of design products. The main goal of minimalist approaches in design field to present an idea as the minimum numbers of colors, shapes, images and lines as possible. The purpose of this study is to investigate mentioned applications of minimal approaches in the beginning of 21st century graphic design. In order to indicate advantages and disadvantages of minimalist design methods within the context of recent graphic design samples that have been analyzed throughout this research process. As a result of these examinations, it is found that simplistic design approaches may help the people to make them understand complex information easily, which are used in graphic design products. Another finding of this research is that usability of a website, a mobile application or a product can be increased via using minimal design approaches.
