One of efforts to overcome limited land is verticulture or vertical farming. There were two objectives in this research i.e.: 1) to determine the effective and efficient combinations between planting media and verticultural materials for growth of Pakchoy, and 2) to obtain the best combination between planting models and proportion of N, P and K fertilizers to produce optimal yield of strawberry. First experiment was conducted from October to December 2014 in Gresik. Verticultural materials and media were combined into 12 treatments and three replications for Randomized Block Design. Second experiment was conducted in Batu, where horizontal and vertical planting models were used as first factor and composition of fertilizers (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% NPK fertilizers) as second factor. Result showed that Carpet (verticultural material) and compost (planting media) produced the highest fresh weight and number of leaf for Pakchoy. No interaction between the farming models and fertilizer (N, P, and K) on area and number of leaf of strawberry. Separately, both horizontal and vertical farming models did not effect on leaf area and number of leaf of strawberry. Application of N, P and K showed significant effect on numbers of leaf, yield and quality of strawberry.
Unsuitability land uses have significant impact on conditions of many river basins along line from upstream to downstream through the cities in Indonesia. Water of Brantas upstream running along line through Batu City from Bumiaji Sub-District to Junrejo Sub-District may show varied concentrations of contaminants. The objective studies are (i) to evaluate the land use at existing-condition; (ii) to monitor the water quality parameters; (iii) to assess the water quality index and water pollution index of the Brantas upstream water. In this study, Pearson correlation of BOD and COD shown a very high positive correlations (r) of 0.8779. Meanwhile, high positive correlations were shown in TSS vs T-PO4 and T-NO3 vs T-PO4, whereas DO vs TDS, DO vs T-NO3, and DO vs T-PO4 have high negative correlations. Based on the four river water quality classifications in Indonesia, all stations shown the status of water pollution index at moderate level (Class I and II). Meanwhile, the water pollution index status of Class III were dominated by moderate level. In contrast, the status of water pollution index in Class IV was dominated by good level. Water pollution index in Category IV was relatively similar result to NSF-WQI status rather than other categories.
The community service aims to empower the pineapple farmers (Ananas comosus L.) in Ngancar and Plosoklaten Districts, Kediri Regency, by improving cultivation technology to produce higher quality fresh fruit and diversifying post-harvest products to add various marketable products. Farmers need for pineapple seeds that have not been met and improper plant cultivation technology were some of problems faced by farmers in this area. In addition, superior varieties developed are still limited, hence choices in improving quality are limited. Farmers limited knowledge on the post-harvest technology in pineapple cultivation has caused the farmers have no other choice but to market their products only in the form of fresh fruit. Part of the plant which is prioritized for production was only the fruit, there has not been any innovation in utilizing other plant parts such as pineapple leaves as raw material for pineapple fiber industry. In this community service, counseling has been successfully conducted on the selection of pineapple seedlings and superior varieties, improvement of pineapple plant maintenance and Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR). Implementation of community service started with socialization and counseling on the selection of pineapple seedlings and superior varieties, improvement of pineapple plant maintenance and PGPR. In addition, practice and assistance were carried out in the characterization and selection of superior varieties of pineapple seedlings. The result obtained is that the partner community is able to apply pineapple plant cultivation technology in an integrated manner. Keywords: Pineapple, extension, seeds, superior varieties. ABSTRAK Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat adalah pemberdayaan kelompok tani Langgeng Mulyo nanas (Ananas comosus L.) di Kecamatan Ngancar dan Plosoklaten, Kabupaten Kediri dengan cara perbaikan teknologi budidaya untuk menghasilkan buah segar yang lebih berkualitas dan diversifikasi produk pasca panen untuk menambah berbagai produk yang bisa dipasarkan. Permasalahan pada Kelompok Tani di Kecamatan Ngancar dan Kecamatan Plosoklaten, Kabupaten Kediri, antara lain adalah kebutuhan bibit nanas yang belum dapat dipenuhi dan teknologi budidaya tanaman nanas yang kurang tepat. Varietas unggul yang dikembangkan masih terbatas sehingga pilihan dalam perbaikan kualitas menjadi terbatas. Keterbatasan pengetahuan tentang teknologi pasca panen pada pelaku budidaya nanas menyebabkan pelaku budidaya tidak mempunyai pilihan lain selain memasarkan produk hanya dalam bentuk buah segar. Bagian tanaman yang diutamakan produksinya hanya pada bagian buah, belum terdapat inovasi memanfaatkan bagian tanaman yang lain seperti daun nanas sebagai bahan baku industri serat nanas. Pada pengabdian ini telah berhasil dilakukan penyuluhan mengenai seleksi bibit nanas dan varietas unggul, perbaikan pemeliharaan tanaman nanas dan Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacter (PGPR). Pelaksanaan pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan diawali dengan sosialisasi dan penyuluhan tentang seleksi bibit nanas dan varietas unggul, perbaikan pemeliharaan tanaman nanas dan PGPR. Selain itu dilakukan praktek dan pendampingan dalam karakterisasi dan seleksi bibit nanas varietas unggul. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah masyarakat mitra mampu menerapkan teknologi budidaya tanaman nanas secara terpadu. Kata kunci: Nanas, penyuluhan, bibit, varietas unggul.
The shift of land function that beyond the environment support has decreased the environment quality, such as flood, and it has increased the sedimentation as well. In order to control the area development, implementation of the environment support is really important to be counted on. Determination of the environment support includes the supports that based on land capability and land balance. Objectives of the research were 1) to evaluate the land use toward the environment support that based on two basis for the existing land use in 2010, 2) to study and predict the environment support status for the next 20 years (in 2030) based on calculation of the prediction and the Regional Layout Design. The analysis method of the research was descriptive by describing results of the support calculation through the support status of both surplus and deficit. Results of the research showed that width of the existing land use, which was not conformed to the land capability class was 25.67%, while the inconformity based on the space layout design of land use was 32.05%. Calculation of land balance, which shows the results that the status in 2012 and prediction in 2031 are still surplus and safe.
Pinching dan paclobutrazol adalah upaya yang dilakukan untuk menghasilkan tanaman Snapdragon yang ideal sebagai tanaman hias pot khususnya dari segi kualitas yaitu tinggi tanaman dan jumlah bunga. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pinching dan konsentrasi paclobutrazol terhadap kualitas Snapdragon. Kualitas yang diharapkan adalah tinggi tanaman yang proporsional yaitu 1¾ dari tinggi pot berukuran 12 cm serta jumlah bunga yang lebih dari satu per tanaman. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di greenhouse PT. Condido Agro, Kecamatan Tutur, Pasuruan, Jawa Timur pada Bulan Februari 2020 hingga Mei 2020. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Kelompok Faktorial (RAKF) dengan 4 kali ulangan, faktor pertama terdiri dari 2 taraf dan faktor kedua terdiri dari 4 taraf. Data yang diperoleh dianalisa dengan ANOVA dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT) taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa interaksi antara perlakuan pinching dan konsentrasi paclobutrazol sebesar 50 ppm hingga 150 ppm mampu menurunkan tinggi tanaman hingga 64,8%, serta meningkatkan jumlah bunga per tanaman hingga 74,06%, namun dapat menunda waktu pembungaan selama 10 hingga 22 hari.
