<p class="abstrak">The purpose of this study was to find out if the ability to speak English effectively by 10th graders at SMA IT Rahmaniya was improved by using YouTube. This paper focused on implementing YouTube as a method for teaching speaking that is different, interesting, and fun, while creating a classroom atmosphere that is comfortable and increases students’ enthusiasm for learning. This paper used the qualitative descriptive method as the method of research. The result of using YouTube was very effective because it allowed students to speak with more confidence and expression. They also did not have to worry about the phrases they used when speaking because they were able to see how foreigners speak English properly and correctly.</p><p class="abstrak"><strong>BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: </strong>Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan ketermapilan berbicara bahasa inggris secara efektif dengan memanfaatkan media YouTube di SMA IT Rahmaniyah, untuk kelas X. Penelitian berfokus pada implementasi Youtube untuk pengajaran berbicara yang berbeda, menarik, menyenangkan, menjadikan suasana dikelas nyaman dan meningkatkan semangat belajar untuk siswa kelas X SMA. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil dari penggunaan media YouTube selama pembelajaran di kelas sangat efektif, karena siswa berbicara dengan percaya diri dan lebih berekspresif. Siswa juga tidak perlu khawatir mengenai frasa yang mereka gunakan ketika berbicara bahasa inggris, karena mereka sudah melihat bagaimana orang asing berbicara bahasa inggris dengan baik dan benar.</p>
Abstrak Penelitian ini adalah kajian tentang efektivitas penggunaan media sosial, yaitu facebook, untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menulis deskriptif berbahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas. Data dikumpulkan dari observasi, dokumentasi, dan tes. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa: 1) proses pembelajaran menulis deskriptif bahasa Inggris menggunakan facebook lebih bervariasi dan menyenangkan, dan 2) ada peningkatan kemampuan menulis deskriptif bahasa Inggris yang ditandai dari peningkatan hasil tes. Hal tersebut terlihat pada hasil nilai rata-rata pre-test sebesar 66.25, dan hasil rata-rata post-test sebesar 80.15. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa facebook dapat dimanfaatkan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Abstract This research is a study of the effectiveness of using social media, namely Facebook, to improve students' ability to write descriptive English. This research is a classroom action research. The data are taken from observation, documentation, and tests. The results of data analysis show that: 1) the process of learning descriptive English using Facebook is more varied and enjoyable, and 2) there is an increase in students’ ability to write descriptive English which is marked by an increase in test results. This can be seen from the average of the pre-test and pos-test score, which is 66.25 and 80.15 respectively. Thus it can be concluded that Facebook can be used to improve learning outcomes in learning English.
The objective of research is to know affixation in The Script song lyric. The main purpose of this research is to know how affixation process happens in The Script song lyric "Hall of Fame". The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The data used the text script of lyric. The result of this analysis shows that affixation process divided in two types depends on affixes itself. SariTujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui bentuk afiksasi (pengimbuhan) dalam lirik lagu. Fokus utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana proses pengimbuhan yang terdapat pada naskah atau lirik lagu berjudul "Hall of Fame". Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data menggunakan naskah teks lirik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses pengimbuhan yang terdapat pada lirik lagu "Hall of Fame" terbagi menjadi dua jenis yang tergantung pada afiks itu sendiri.
The objective of this research is to know the function of the usage of slangs that used by the characters in Step Up 2 The Streets movie. The method of this research was descriptive qualitative. The data were collected through documentation of utterances that contains slang words.
The aim of the study is to find the effectiveness of film and streaming project to enhance English academic writing ability and how the students' perception in the used film in the classroom. The method in this study was an exploratory mixed method. Techniques of collecting data are documentation and questionnaire. The total number of the sample was 40 students from one of the classes. The data collected using documentation taken from students' result test of English academic writing. The English academic writing was analyzed based on the Checklist Rubric from Brown and Barley. To measure the validity of the questionnaire, the writer used the Pearson Product Moment. While to measure reliability used Alpha Cronbach. The result showed that was 78% of the students were able to write a good academic writing. From the questionnaire, it was found that 48% of the students answer "strongly agree". It means that the students' perception toward film and streaming project was very strong. They were interested to learn writing through film and streaming project and give a positive context in learning. The result of the study that the ttest result is t-stat (8.89) > t-table (2.02),. It means that there is a significant difference was found in English academic writing in favour of the students who studied academic writing before and after the use of the film and streaming project.
