Pendidikan merupakan unsur yang paling penting bagi kemajuan peradaban bangsa. Era Industri dan globalisasi membawa dampak terhadap proses pendidikan terutama di Indonesia. Di satu sisi, globalisasi memberi dampak positif, namun di sisi lain, dominasi teknologi membawa dampak negatif, yakni menimbulkan dehumanisasi dalam bentuk mentalitas yang terlalu mengagungkan teknologi di atas segalanya. Realitasnya, pendidikan di era globalisasi saat ini mengalami krisis nilai. Pendidikan hanya menghasilkan output-output yang pintar secara kognitif, menguasai teori dan teknologi tetapi kering dari nilai-nilai kemanusiaan dan sosial (dehumanisasi). Sebagai solusinya, pendidikan sebagai investasi haruslah mampu “memanusiakan manusia”; mengintegrasikan human being dan technobeing atau keterpaduan sains dan agama, dan reparadigmatisasi pendidikan dengan value approach, social cultural approach, cognitif skill approach dan political policy approach tentu saja sangat dibutuhkan untuk mencapai tujuan pendidikan nasional dalam rangka membentuk generasi profesional, bermoral, bertanggung jawab dan bermartabat.
English as the Medium of instruction (MOI) in Indonesia has experienced up and down periods, thus affecting the teachers’ use of code-switching and code-mixing strategies. This article reports on English teachers’ perceived usefulness of English as the Medium of Instruction (MOI) in classrooms. Participants of the study are English teachers from various school levels in one province in Eastern Indonesia. This exploratory case study used a self-assessment survey as the single instrument. As a result, teachers have a positive perception toward English as the Medium of Instruction (MOI) as they believe it could improve students’ proficiency. However, some are hesitant and would rather have classes taught in a blend of their native language and English. This study implies that teachers should consider elements of high-quality instructions. This study suggests developing an institutional ELT policy to infuse MOI into classroom pedagogy.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of: 1) work motivation on dual-role stress; 2) spouse supports on dual-role stress; 3) spouse supports on marriage contentment; and 4) dual-role stress on marriage contentment among career women. A quantitative approach was used as a method of this study. Thirty employees of Bank Nasional Indonesia (BNI) Makassar branch were recruited as participants and were chose based on purposive sampling technique. Four scale instruments were used to collect data while regression analysis of SPSS windows 14.00 program was employed to analyse the data. The study found that work motivation (r=0,436) and spouse supports (r=0,745) have negative effects on dual-role stress among career women, while spouse supports have positive effect on marriage contentment among career women (r=0,645). However, dual-role stress has negative effects on career women’s marriage contement (r=0,429). Abstrak: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji efek dari: 1) motivasi kerja pada stres konflik peran ganda; 2) dukunga pasangan pada stres konflik peran ganda; 3) dukungan pasangan pada kepuasan pernikahan; dan 4) stres konflik peran ganda pada kepuasan pernikahan pada wanita karir. Pendekatan kuantitatif digunakan sebagai metode penelitian ini. Tiga puluh karyawan Bank Nasional Indonesia (BNI) cabang Makassar direkrut sebagai peserta dan dipilih berdasarkan teknik purposive sampling.Empat instrumen skala digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dan analisis regresi dari program SPSS 14,00 for windows digunakan untuk menganalisis data. Studi ini menemukan bahwa motivasi kerja (r= 0.436) dan dukungan pasangan (r= 0,745) memiliki efek negatif pada stres konflik peran ganda di kalangan wanita karier, sedangkan dukungan pasangan memiliki efek positif pada kepuasan pernikahan pada wanita karir (r = 0.645). Namun, stres konflik peran ganda memiliki efek negatif pada kepuasan pernikahan pada wanita karir (r = 0,429).
The purpose of this research was to analize (1) the impact of work motivation to conflict stress caused by doble roles on career women, (2) the effect of spouse support to conflict stress caused by doble roles on career women, (3) the influence of spouse support to marriage contentment on career women, and (4) The influence of conflict stress of doble roles on career women and their marriage contement. This research employed quantitatif approch. There were 30 employees of BNI Makassar branch taken as subjects based on purposive sampling method. The 4 scale research instrument was applied while regression program of SPSS windows 14.00 was employed to analize the data. Study found that (1) there were negative impact of work motivation to conflict stress of doble roles on career women (r=0,436), (2) there were negatif effect of spouse support to conflict stress caused by doble roles on career women (r=0,745), (3) there were positif influence of spouse support to marriage contentment on career women (r=0,645), and (4) there were negative influence of conflict stress of doble roles on career women and their marriage contement (r=0,429).
