Objective Conduct a cross-cultural adaptation of the expanded version of the 29-items Readiness for Interprofessional Learning Scale (RIPLS) into Brazilian Portuguese. Method Five steps were adopted: three translations, synthesis, three back-translations, assessment by an expert committee, and pre-test. Validation comprised 327 students from 13 undergraduate health courses from a public university. Parallel analyses were conducted using the R software and factor analysis using Exploratory Structural Equation Modeling. Results 1 9 12 16 10 11 17 19 21 24 25 29 Conclusion Evidences were found relating to the validity of the RIPLS version in Brazilian Portuguese in its application in the national context.
de crianças e adolescentes soropositivos infectados pela transmissão vertical; descrever dificuldades e estressores percebidos pelos cuidadores sobre aspectos psicossociais e do tratamento para o HIV e analisar estratégias de enfrentamento utilizadas. Participaram 43 cuidadores primários, a maioria (N = 24) mães soropositivas; a idade variou de 18 a 68 anos. Os instrumentos incluíram entrevista semi-estruturada e a Escala Modos de Enfrentamento de Problemas (EMEP). Os resultados revelaram a presença de dificuldades em áreas como adesão ao tratamento, revelação do diagnóstico para a criança/adolescente e informação sobre o diagnóstico na escola. Quanto às estratégias de enfrentamento, houve predomínio de busca de práticas religiosas/ pensamento fantasioso e focalização no problema, segundo escores da EMEP. O estudo indica a necessidade das equipes de saúde se qualificarem para atendimento a demandas psicossociais, visando atenção integral e interdisciplinar a familiares e crianças/adolescentes vivendo com HIV/aids. Children and Adolescents Living with HIV/Aids and their Families:Psychosocial Aspects and Coping ABSTRACT -The objectives of this study were to describe socio-demographic and medical aspects of children and adolescents who acquired HIV infection during the prenatal period. It also intends to describe de organizational aspects of their families; to delineate difficulties and stressors perceived by caregivers based upon psychosocial and HIV-related issues, so that it became able to analyze coping strategies utilized, one of the main objectives of this paper. Forty-three primary caregivers took part in this research, most of them were mothers infected with HIV (24), between the ages of 18 and 68. The instruments used included a semi-structured interview and the Ways of Coping with Problems Scale (WCPS). The results revealed difficulties in areas such as adherence to treatment, disclosure of diagnosis to children/adolescents and providing of information about the diagnosis at school. With reference to the coping strategies, there was a predominance of search for religious practices/fantastical thoughts and problem focusing, according to the scores of the WCPS. The study corroborates the necessity for health care professionals to strive to sharpen their professional expertise to attend psychosocial demands, endeavoring to devote interdisciplinary attention to children and adolescents living with HIV/AIDS, as well as their family members.
Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) by is associated with decreasing cure rates in Brazil. Standard treatment with pentavalent antimony (Sb) cures only 50-60% of the cases. The immunopathogenesis of CL ulcer is associated with high interferon-γ and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) production. Pentoxifylline, a TNF inhibitor, has been successfully used in association with Sb in mucosal and cutaneous leishmaniasis. This randomized, double-blind, and placebo-controlled trial aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of oral pentoxifylline plus Sb versus placebo plus Sb in patients with CL in Bahia, Brazil. A total of 164 patients were randomized in two groups to receive the combination or the monotherapy. Cure rate 6 months after treatment was 45% in the pentoxifylline group and 43% in the control group. There was also no difference between the groups regarding the healing time (99.7 ± 66.2 days and 98.1 ± 72.7 days, respectively). Adverse events were more common in the pentoxifylline group (37.8%), versus 23% in the placebo group. This trial shows that Sb combined therapy with pentoxifylline is not more effective than Sb monotherapy in the treatment of CL caused by .
Resumo Introdução Educação Interprofissional (EIP) é uma estratégia pedagógica que busca preparar o futuro profissional da saúde para o trabalho colaborativo. Objetivo Identificar experiências curriculares de EIP e avaliar a disponibilidade de estudantes/egressos da graduação em Odontologia para o aprendizado interprofissional. Material e método Estudo observacional transversal realizado em uma universidade pública da Região Sul do Brasil. Amostra foi constituída por estudantes e egressos de Odontologia que participaram da disciplina eletiva integradora dos cursos da saúde com foco na EIP e estudantes do último ano do curso que não a cursaram (N=172). Coleta de dados envolveu a aplicação online da versão validada para língua portuguesa e ampliada da Readiness for Interprofessional Learning Scale (RIPLS-40), acrescentando-se questões de perfil sociodemográfico dos participantes e experiências de EIP na graduação. Resultado Participaram do estudo 76 estudantes e 12 egressos de Odontologia (n=88). Atividades de EIP foram observadas nos estágios curriculares (20,4%), atividades extracurriculares diversas (17%), de extensão (13,6%) e pesquisa (7,6%). Entre os que cursaram a disciplina integradora, 89,1% a reconheceram como uma atividade de EIP. Resultados da RIPLS mostraram estudantes e egressos com atitudes positivas para EIP, ainda que não tenha sido verificada associação entre participação em atividades de EIP e maior disponibilidade para aprendizagem compartilhada. Conclusão Experiências curriculares pontuais de EIP na graduação em Odontologia foram observadas na Universidade investigada, especialmente em atividades eletivas e estágios curriculares. Para que sejam efetivas no desenvolvimento de competências colaborativas para o trabalho interprofissional em saúde, as experiências de EIP devem estar presentes ao longo da formação do cirurgião-dentista.
