Vitamin D deficiency is defined as a 25(OH) D below 20ng/ml (50 nmol/liter) 1,2. Patients who were previously treated or are currently being treated for vitamin D deficiency and patients with vitamin D toxicity (serum values above 100 nmol/l) were excluded. Vitamin D deficiency is a growing problem worldwide; it is associated with a variety of disease 3,4. Vitamin D receptor is present in most tissues and cells of the body. Vitamin D deficiency could lead to complications, such as low bone mineral density, osteopenia and osteoporosis, cardiovascular and autoimmune diseases, and increased cancer risk 1,4,5. Vitamin D deficiency evaluation is important to avoid diverse health conditions 3,6,7 .
