A group of people who had been immunized with tetanus toxoid 14 to 21 years before this study were examined to establish the effect of a standard booster and to identify and evaluate the factors producing the response. All the subjects showed a significant rise in titer two weeks after the booster. Mathematical models were developed to describe the variables influencing response. The significance of the variables is discussed and recommendations for immunization practice are proposed.
