The aim of this research is to develop an educational multimedia in the form of video as one of media to teach speaking. Research and development design is used to produce an educational multimedia entitled Nginggris Narsis. Procedures of this research includes identification students and teachers need, planning and product design, product small scale tryout, validation of the expert, product revision, product large scale try out and revision, and dissemination. This video is used to teach the first grade students of Junior High School in Indonesia of which curriculum implemented is 2013 curriculum. The results show that NginggrisNarsis is an appropriate material to teach EFL learners in speaking, although there are still some weaknesses found within this video. Nginggris Narsis as educational media to teach speaking help both teachers and students in introducing English as a foreign language for Indonesian students.
The title of this paper is a conversational implicature analysis on Oscar Wilde's -Happy Prince‖. In this paper, the writer discusses conversational implicature in one of Oscar Wilde's short stories entitled -Happy Prince‖. The objectives of the study are to identify the implicature utterances conveyed by the characters in Oscar Wilde's -Happy Prince‖ and to describe the implied meaning uttered by the characters in Oscar Wilde's -Happy Prince‖. In this study, the writer applies qualitative research method. The objects of this study are ten utterances of conversational implicature in Oscar Wilde's -Happy Prince‖. Those conversational implicature are obtained through frequent reading and analysis. This study employed the researcher as the instrument to find adequate and profound data and analyze them. The procedures and steps that have been used in this research are: (1) the provision of data, (2) data classification, (3) and data analysis. In analyzing the data, the writer uses Gricean theory. It is a theory about conversational implicature generated by four maxims. Those are maxim of quantity, maxim of quality, maxim of relation and maxim of manner. Then the last step is (4) the presentation of data analysis. After conducting the research, the writer found ten conversational implicatures in Oscar Wilde's short story -Happy Prince‖. In the short story, there are some variation's meanings of the conversational implicature used in the short story which closely related to the conversational implicature; they are cooperative, politeness and ironical principle. In Oscar Wilde's short story -Happy Prince‖, there are six maxims of politeness principle, two maxims of cooperative principles and two maxims of ironical principles. Besides that, the reasons of the conversational implicature used in Oscar Wilde's short story -Happy Prince‖ are to make us easyly understand the dialogue in the short story conversations and it is aimed at minimizing misunderstanding among the readers and literary critics. Dalam tulisan ini, penulis membahas implikatur percakapan di salah satu cerita pendek Oscar Wilde yang berjudul "Selamat Pangeran". This study aims at describing conceptual metaphor in Gola Gong's novel -Bila Waktu Bicara‖ in the perspective of George Lakoff's theories of metaphor. This research is a (qualitative) bibliographical research. The object of the study is the use of metaphor in Gola Gong's novel -Bila Waktu Bicara‖ and there are 59 metaphorical expressions. Having analyzed the data, the researcher concludes that there are seven most outstanding conceptual mapping on that novel: time is an individual, the world is the hell or paradise, people is a stream of water, seeing is touching, eye ball is a container, body part is a landscape, ambulance is an individual. Among this seven conceptual mappings, the conceptual pattern of time is an individual is the most frequent use and it shows that there has been an increase of creativity in the creation of socioreligious metaphor of Indonesian young novelist such as Gola Gong. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian bibliografi (kualitatif). Objek dalam penelitian ini adalah penggunaan majas metafora dalam novel karya Gola Gong tersebut, dan hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan adanya 59 ekspresi yang mengandung majas metafora. Setelah menganalisis data, penulis dapat menyimpulkan bahwa ada tujuh konsep pemetaan yang paling terkenal dalam novel tersebut; waktu adalah sebuah individu, dunia itu adalah antara surga atau neraka, manusia adalah aliran air, melihat berarti merasakan, bola mata sebagai wadahnya, anggota tubuh adalah 64 pemandangan, dan ambulans adalah sebuah individu. Di antara ketujuh pembagian konsep-konsep tersebut, pola konsep bahwa waktu itu bersifat pribadi adalah konsep yang paling sering digunakan dalam novel tersebut, dan hal ini menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan kreatifitas yang dimiliki oleh para pengarang novel muda Indonesia dalam pembuatan novel yang mengandung metafora sosial keagamaan seperti halnya Gola Gong.
