This study was conducted to determine the compassion levels of nurses working in a university hospital. The study sample consists of 227 nurses who were available and participated in the research voluntarily during the study. The study data were collected by using "Nurse Description Form" and "Compassion Scale (CS)." In the analysis of the study data, number, percentage, mean and independent T test and ANOVA test were used. The total mean score of CS of the nurses was found as 97.02 ± 10.67. There was no statistically significant difference between gender, marital status and weekly work hours of the nurses and their total CS score means and total sub-scale score means. On the other hand, there was a statistically significant difference between the age variable of the nurses and the sub-scale of "separation," between the education level of the nurses and their total CS score means. As a result, it was found that the level of compassion of the nurses was moderate and the level of education affected the compassion levels of the nurses.
Results:The average age of the nurses participating in the survey was 36.60 ± 6.82 years, of whom 78.5% were married, 77.5% were undergraduates, 85% were nurses in service, 75% participated in professional scientific meetings, and 85% did not actively follow professional publications or research results. The average score for the ASEBN was 46.36 ± 3.95. The "Beliefs and Expectations for the Evidence-Based Nursing" subscale mean score was 28.30±3.90, the "Evidence-Based Application Intention" subscale mean score was 10.55±1.93, and the "Feelings Related to evidence-based Nursing" subscale mean score was 7.51±2.45. The following statistically significant differences within the ASEBN total mean scores were noted; marital status and nurses' level of education with the mean scores on the beliefs and expectations subscale, status regarding participation in scientific meetings with nurses' level of education and the mean scores of the emotions subscale, working status and application intention subscale, following professional publications and the application intention subscale (p<0.05).conclusion: From this research, nurses were found to have moderately positive attitudes towards evidence-based nursing.

AimThe aim of this study was to determine the effect on pain and bruising of pressure applied for different durations after subcutaneous heparin injection.MethodsThis research was a quasi‐experimental study. The research was performed with 60 patients. Two different injection techniques were applied at an interval of 24 hr to each patient taking part in the study. Method A: after the low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) injection, pressure was applied with dry cotton for 10 s directly after the needle was withdrawn. Method B: after the LMWH injection, pressure was applied with dry cotton for 60 s directly after the needle was withdrawn. After the injection process was completed, the dimension of the bruising formed were evaluated. Also, after the injection process was completed, the patients were asked to show on a visual analog scale the severity of pain felt during the injection. Statistical analysis of the research data was performed with the statistics package IBM SPSS 22.0. The Wilcoxon signed rank test and the Mann–Whitney U test were used in the analysis of the data.ResultsThe results of the statistical analysis showed no statistically significant difference between the mean size of bruising and pain level according to the duration of pressure applied to the injection area (p > .05).ConclusionsIt was concluded in this study that the duration of pressure applied to the injection site after subcutaneous LMWH injection did not affect the size of bruising or the severity of pain, and, unlike in the literature, that 60 s of applied pressure did not have a positive effect. Also, it was found that gender had an effect on the formation of bruising and the severity of pain, and body mass index had an effect on pain severity. Ten seconds of pressure applied to the injection site after subcutaneous LMWH injection may be enough to reduce complications.
Yoğun bakım hemşirelerinin ekip çalışması tutumlarının incelenmesi Investigation of teamwork attitude of intensive care nurses Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı, yoğun bakım hemşirelerinin ekip çalışması tutumlarının incelenmesidir. Introduction: This study was conducted to examine the teamwork attitudes of the intensive care nurses. Methods: This study was conducted in intensive care units of a university hospital. The sample of the study consisted of 88 nurses who were not on sick leave and accepted to participate in the study. The data of the study were collected with the "Nurse Introductory Form" and "Teamwork Attitudes Scale (TAS)". Number, percentage, mean, independent T test, ANOVA test and Pearson Correlation Analysis were used to analyse the study data. Results: The mean age of the nurses participating in the study was found to be 31.01±5.88 (min: 22, max: 53), 75% of them were female, 90.9% had university graduate, 35.2% were employed in the anaesthesia and reanimation intensive care unit. As a result of the statistical analysis, the total mean TAS score of the nurses was found as 110.05±10.08, from the subscale mean scores; team structure was 23.20±3.25, mutual support was 16.94±2.71, communication was 20.63±2.29, leadership was 25.10±3.05, and condition monitoring was found as 24.17±2.40. There was a statistically significant difference between the educational status of nurses and the total score of TAS. On the other hand, no statistically significant difference was found between the gender, m...
