CATTLE FARMERS’S RESPONSE ON APPLICATION OF ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION (AI) TEGNOLOGY IN TONDEGESAN VILLAGE KAWANGKOAN DISTRICT, MINAHASA REGENCY. The government encourages the cattle farming industry through science and technology to increase the productivity of livestock businesses in order to be able to increase the livestock population. The objective of this study was to determine the farmer's response to the adoption of artificial insemination technology (IB) at the village of Tondegesan Dua, Kawangkoan District, Minahasa Regency and to evaluate their knowledge on artificial insemination motivation and technology adoption (IB) in Tondegesan two Village, Kawangkoan District, Minahasa Regency. Data sources were based on primary and secondary data. Data collection were conducted by observation and interview method. The farmer population were involving 42 farmers following artificial insemination and not following artificial insemination activities, but they were aware of artificial insemination technology. The number of samples taken were 30 farmers. Determination of the sample was purposively taken at the village of Tondegesan Dua. The measurement of the research indicator was carried out by applying a Likert scale. Test was done on the relationship between the variables of farmer response to artificial insemination. The results showed that the farmer's responses to artificial insemination were in a fairly good category based on the results of the study. It can be concluded that the farmer's response to the artificial insemination was quite good. Keywords: Farmer motivation, artificial Insemination technology, Tondegesan Dua village.
ABSTRAKPenelitian dilaksanakan di Kota Manado, pada perusahaan peternakan Ayam Ras Petelur Dharma Gunawan yang berlokasi di Kelurahan Paniki Bawah Kecamatan Mapanget.Masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah berapa besar tercapainya titik impas dan berapa besar keuntungan usaha ternak ayam ras petelur Dharma Gunawan. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui titik impas dan keuntungan usaha ternak ayam ras petelur Dharma Gunawan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode studi kasus. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara secara langsung kepada peternak dengan menggunakan kuesioner. Model analisis yang digunakan yaitu model analisis deskriptif dengan cara verbal dan matematis. Cara verbal adalah cara yang menggunakan kata-kata untuk menerangkan sesuatu hal, sedangkan cara matematis dengan menggunakan analisis titik impas.Penelitian dilakukan pada satu periode produksi, menunjukkan bahwa dalam pengalokasian biaya menyangkut biaya tetap total sebesar Rp 413.793.300,-, dan biaya variabel total sebesar Rp 6.298.040.700,- sedangkan penerimaan total sebesar Rp 9.019.195.160, sehingga keuntungan usaha ternak ayam ras petelur sebesar Rp 2.307.361.460,-. Kesimpulan penelitian ini yaitu titik impas tercapai pada unit 1.877.804,51 dan penerimaan sebesar Rp 1.799.100.000,- dari hasil penjualan telur rata-rata. Usaha ternak ayam petelur Dharma Gunawan prospektif dan menguntungkan. The study was conducted in the Dharma Gunawan layer chicken farm. The farm is a poultry farm business in the city of Manado, located in Paniki Bawah, Mapanget District. The problem in this study is howbreakeven and profit achievement of Dharma Gunawan layer chicken farm. The research objective was to determine the break-even point and profit of Dharma Gunawan layer chicken farm. The research method used is case study method. Dataobtained through direct interviews with farmer using a questionnaire. The analysis model used in the study is a descriptive analysis of verbal and mathematical way models. Verbal is the way how to use words to explain something, while mathematical way is the way of breakeven analysis. The study on allocation of costs and profitwas calculated in a production period on the chicken layer farm, showed that involves fixed costs total is Rp 413 793 300,-, total variable costs is Rp 6,298,040,700,- and total revenue is Rp 9,019,195,160,-, so profitof Dharma Gunawan chicken layer farm is Rp 2.307.361.460,-. The conclusion are reached breakeven in units is 1,877,804.51 and in revenue is Rp 1.7991 billion,- from the average sale of eggs. The Dharma Gunawan layer chicken farm is prospective and profitable. Ongole cross bread has important role in the economical needs of people in Tompaso Barat. In addition as beef cattle, household farmers also use it as a working cattle, source of fertilize and investment. In addition to farmer’s income and the acceleration growth of cattle population, in the year of 2011, District West Tompaso Barat did an artificial insemination program. The problem was whether this program is beneficial for the farmer or not. The aim at this research is to analyze the profit of farmers using artificial insemination program. This research was conducted using survey method involving about 169 farmers raising Ongole crossbred cattle at West Tompaso District applying artificial insemination. The data were analyzed by profit analysis. Result showed that the total income received from the total sale of the beef cattle using artificial insemination were IDR 490,950,000.- with the total cost of IDR 468,945,750. The profit of the household farmers was the balance between the total income and the total cost getting IDR 21,504,250. The average income of the respondent was about IDR 716,808. Therefore, it can be concluded that the household farmers raising Ongole crossbred cattle get more profit when they used artificial insemination. Based on this research it can be suggested that the beef cattle management should be maintained on the bases of agribusiness. Keywords: Profit, Ongole crossbred cattle, Artificial Insemination
THE ROLE OF HOUSEHOLD FARMER GROUP ON DEVELOPMENT OF DUCK FARMING SYSTEM IN WEST TONDANO DISTRICT OF MINAHASA REGENCY. Development of animal husbandry was generally intended to improve the human welfare of rural community, mainly increasing the productivity their animal farming system. This effort was mainly done to fulfil the nutritional needs of the communities in rural areas. The animal farming system was changed from the traditional way of animal maintenance into the intensive maintenance, requiring better understanding and knowledge of raising ducks. This research was carried out at the village of Tuutu, West Tondano district of Minahasa regency involving duck household farmer group from January 10, 2017 – 10 April 2017. This research was applied using qualitative research. Data were collected intentionally based on purposive Sampling method, collected from primary and secondary sources of data. Primary data were obtained through direct observation held by interviews with the respondents of duck household farmers applying questions that have been prepared and drawn up in accordance with the research objectives. Secondary data were obtained from existing records in the Office of the head of the local Office and BP3K related with this study. Results of the study showed that all duck household farmer groups at the village of Tuutu, West Tondano district of Minahasa Regency were playing role in development of duck household farming system in making decision, involving the group. These groups were including four groups of Masawa-Sawangan, Tougela, Esa Toroan Waya and Toubeke.Key word: Household farming group, duck farming system development, West Tondano district
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN AGRICULTURAL EXTENTION TASK EFFORTS AND BEEF CATTLE HOUSEHOLD FARMER SUCCCESS AT KWANDANG DISTRICT OF NORTH GORONTALO REGENCY. On basis of the ratio between total of villages and total of agricultural extension officers (AEO), meaning each AEO worked one village, the system of the AEO should run smoothly. Based on the initial survey, it showed that task effort of the AEO at several villages of Kwandang district, indicated minimum task effort by the AEO. Low task effort affected productivity success of beef cattle household farmers indicating it should be improved. The objective of this study was to evaluate the task effort of the AEO, the success of beef cattle household farmers, and to analyze the relationship between the AEO and beef cattle household success at Kwandang district of North Gorontalo regency. The purposive sampling method was applied in this study involving four villages of Ombulodata, Alata Karya, and Posso. The household respondents were choosed based on stratified random sampling of the total population of all household farmers at each village using Slovin formula, completed by the AEO working at the sample villages. Variable measurements were applied using Liker scale.The relationship between the AEO and beef cattle household success was tested using Spearman correlation coefficient test. Results showed that task effort of the AEO was included into good category with the percentage of 96.67 percents. The household success was also included into good category with the percentages of 57.58 percents. In addition, there was strong relationship between task effort and beef cattle household success with the correlation value of 0.6942 indicated by z-calculated of 3.9269 > z-table of 1.960. Therefore, it can be concluded that the task effort of the AEO and beef cattle household farmer success were categorized into good condition indicated by strong relationship between those two variables at Kwandang district of North Gorontalo regency.Keywords : AEO Performance, Succes of Beef Cattle Ranchers
