Purpose The purpose of this paper is to identify the effect of organisational culture by its two dimensions (innovative organisational culture and conservative organisational culture) on innovative performance and also investigate the moderating role of the job type on innovative performance in the relationship between innovative organisational culture and conservative organisational culture. Design/methodology/approach For this study’s purposes, 321 questionnaires from employees of Jordanian private universities were analysed. Convergent validity and discriminant validity tests were performed. Data reliability was confirmed. A bootstrapping technique was used to analyse the data. The multi-group analysis was performed to investigate the moderating role of job type. Findings The results of this study indicate that the innovative organisational culture will improve innovative performance and that a conservative culture reduces innovation opportunities. Moreover, innovative organisational culture promotes innovative performance for all employees regardless of who holds administrative positions. Research limitations/implications This cross-sectional study provides a snapshot at a given moment in time, a methodological limitation that affects the generalisation of its results. Moreover, this study adopted subjective measures and the results are limited to one country, Jordan. Practical implications This paper contributes to drawing the attention of senior management to the importance of innovation culture in the performance of innovation at Jordanian private universities surveyed, in particular, and other organisations in general. Social implications The social impact of this study is to respond to the challenge of building an innovation-based culture and to limit the effects of a conservative culture that limits the response to innovation. Originality/value This study has important implications for leaders in general. It also highlights the need for organisations to develop an orientation towards innovative organisational culture instead of the classic approach based on the conservative culture of all its members (both administrative and non-administrative employees) and to invest in training that supports this trend, thus increasing their innovative performance, which contributes to raising their capabilities to excel, compete and achieve high levels of performance.
This study aims to investigate the role of employee’s attitudes towards implementing and expanding the sustainability policy and the sustainability performance in terms of economic, social, and environmental dimensions. The study model and hypotheses were developed based on a comprehensive literature review. The data were collected from 84 employees working in Jordan’s banking sector through a questionnaire. The results revealed that there is a significant and positive relationship between employee’s attitudes towards implementing and expanding the sustainability policy and the triple bottom lines of sustainability performance. This study promotes the idea of focusing on employee’s attitudes in the banking sector and others sectors in order to enhance sustainability performance, especially that sustainability still does not have the highest priority in a country with an emerging economy like Jordan. The results of the study have significant implications and open many avenues for future research.
Reports on the news about nature or man-made catastrophes are not uncommon. We hear constantly that a human catastrophe has taken place somewhere in the world. In those cases where the infrastructure could possibly be destroyed, it becomes clear that a rescue mission is difficult to achieve. We need special rescue teams, who despite the difficult rescue mission, save lives and reduce suffering.The special organizations involved in catastrophes are called humanitarian organizations. In addition, the specific skills and abilities that these organizations have should be mainly in logistics.In this paper, the author goes into more details about humanitarian logistics and shows its importance in disaster areas. Unfortunately, these humanitarian organizations have many weaknesses and challenges. As a result, these organizations are not well developed, despite their importance. In contrast, the commercial logistics companies, which are well developed, have much strength in management, information technologies, etc.This research defines humanitarian logistics and describes its weaknesses and limitations. Furthermore, it deals with the specifics of humanitarian organizations. The special features of these organizations are their rescue missions, especially in destroyed infrastructure areas. This research demonstrates the various similarities between commercial and humanitarian logistics and points to the potential of knowledge and experience transfer from commercial logistics to humanitarian logistics. This research compares humanitarian logistics with commercial logistics. In doing so, the author tries to gain a deeper insight into the potential of transferring know-how and experience from retail logistics to humanitarian logistics in order to strengthen humanitarian logistics.The research of logistics is a very dynamic world in which humanitarian logistics is becoming increasingly important both in research and in practice. In particular, the demands on logistics in general and on humanitarian logistics, in particular, will increase significantly in the near future because it is estimated that the number and impact of both natural and human disasters is increasing (Kumar et al., 2012). Murphy (2015) analyzed the past data of catastrophes and derived a forecast for the future frequency of disasters and their impact: "Because of the increasing frequency (and severity) of disasters over the past 50 years, humanitarian logistics is likely to be an important topic into the foreseeable future".
In reference to the accelerated development in the world of business, several economic concerns have been emerged such as: growing competitive pressure in the SMEs and large companies, increase in customers’ demand for services, emphasis on critical operations, better customer satisfaction, globalization, etc.To manage every one of these difficulties Logistics prerequisites have continuously expanded, for example, delivery time, Just-in-Time technique, Order cycle, Order fill rate, Order processing, enhancing project management, cost reduction and many others. In this manner, SMEs and large companies consider logistics as a potential key competitive advantage. Also, there is a growing demand for professional logistics and modified logistics solutions. The tailored complex logistics providers offer their packages under special term contract that add special values to the clients. However, some companies still have deficits and needs for proper logistical services, as they had assigned traditional logistics services, such as transport and storage services, to a specialized Logistics service provider. This article tries to give an illustration about contract logistics concept for companies.
<p>In this study, the authors aimed to examine the role of the informal financial sector financing new innovative startups projects. It is popular that the formal financial sector including banking and other financial institutions always try to avoid financing new innovative startups especially in their early stages where the risk is classified as very high.</p><p>This study was based on descriptive analytical approach with reliance on statistical instruments in order to test the hypotheses of this study. Thus, 120 survey questionnaires were distributed over the study’s sample. One hundred of those questionnaires were retrieved and used for the analysis. Results revealed that there are many barriers for financing new innovative startups, and that the formal financial sector, including banking institutions, tends to avoid financing new innovative startups especially at the first phases. This study contained implications and recommendation for academics and practitioners.</p>
