Shelter is the third basic need of human beings after food and clothing. Everyone has a desire to own a house. Pakistan is a developing country and due to limited resources, is unable to fulfill the complete demand of shelter of the population. In the four provinces, different housing schemes are offered by the government but due to the scarcity of resources, they are not enough to satisfy people. Governments should introduce new housing schemes in each of the four provinces, other than the existing ones. Private sector should also help the government in this regard by constructing employee’s colonies and deduct the nominal amount from their salaries, so that by the time of their retirement they become the owners of their houses. Descriptive statistics technique is used to analyze the housing schemes with the comparison of population accordingly in each province. Pakistan is an Islamic country and due to religious issues people are not in favor of availing financing facilities provided by conventional banks and HBFC. But after the establishment of Islamic banks up to some extent this issue has been slightly resolved. Islamic banks should introduce house financing facility to women on easy terms and then up to some extent, help the government to solve the problem of providing shelter to the population. Banking sectors should easy the procedure of house financing to increase the number of borrowers.
ABSTRACT BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE: Corona virus disease (Covid-19) pandemic has impacted lives and institutes globally with serious consequences. No doubt universities are facing immense challenges in this transition to online education. To evaluate the effectiveness of online system of teaching in Covid 19 pandemic as compared to classroom teaching in a basic medical sciences module. METHODOLOGY: This cross-sectional study was conducted at Islamic International Dental College, from 15th February to 15th May 2020 on 1ST year BDS students. At the end of their online module, an online feedback questionnaire was given to students. Assessment of the online module was compared with the previous class module assessment to get an insight of their performance. SPSS version 25 was used. Student’s t test was used. RESULTS: A highly significant p value was found in both Physiology and Biochemistry online tests as compared to class tests. Regarding feedback, 63(91.3%) students preferred classroom teaching as it enhanced active participation 59 (85.5%) and student teacher engagement 62 (89.9%). Students agreed that queries were addressed during online sessions 57 (70.9%) but they seemed less motivated 21(30.4%) and grasping of difficult concepts was tough 48 (69.5%). Teachers seemed more enthusiastic in online teaching 52 (75.4%), but there was variety of teaching tools used in classroom sessions 65 (94.2%). CONCLUSION: Gradually medical universities, faculty and students will adapt with the e-learning but we need to implement innovative and proactive measures for students and faculty to enhance students learning.
BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE: De Quervain's tenosynovitis is tenosynovitis of the abductor pollicis longus and extensor pollicis brevis tendons, occurs due to chronic overuse of the wrist and hand. To compare effectiveness of steroid injection with conservative management of De Quervains’s tenosynovitis. METHODOLOGY: Randomized prospective study was conducted at the various private orthopedic clinic across Rawalpindi district, along with collaboration of community medicine department, Rawal Institute of health sciences, Islamabad. The study population was divided into two groups, i.e., group A and group B. Group A was given inj. corticosteroid and group B was given conservative management. The severity of pain (Visual analogue scale) and Finkelstein test were recorded on baseline and after 3 weeks follow up. RESULTS: Our study included 96 diagnosed cases of de Quervains tenosynovitis on a positive Finkelstein test; 48 were given corticosteroid injection and 48 were conservatively treated. The mean age in corticosteroid’s injection group was 34.76+6.95 years whereas the mean age in conservative management group was 31.7+8.91 years. Post-intervention 13, 29 patients had a positive Finkelstein test in corticosteroid and conservative groups respectively. Although the difference in pre intervention pain score between the two groups was not statistically significant but significantly lesser pain scores in the corticosteroid group; (p= 0.00). CONCLUSION: Steroid injection produced better results in terms of relief in pain and negative Finkelstein test as compared to conservative treatment.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
