E-learning is nowadays one of the most interesting of the "e-"domains available through the Internet. Defining e-learning as a single process, just with content development and content delivery/maintenance, only depicts a limited view to its complex nature. Many more detailed processes exist and can be described, analysed and optimised. This paper addresses this aspect. It is intended to provide background information about e-learning processes and their possible descriptions. They are used to start a discussion about useful and applicable e-learning process descriptions.
In this paper we present an agent-based graphical user interface (GUI) for the domain of e-Learning: the ABEL-GUI. It is developed following a structured approach for the analysis, specification and design of agentbased graphical user interfaces. Therefore a logical goal/task hierarchy is designed and depicted by a society of agents. By this an implicit partition of the GUI takes shape and gets connected with the particular agents. The result takes benefits from the cooperation idea behind agent technology and focuses on specialization, personalization and interaction support.
Information mastering is the major use case for learners in e-learning systems. Therefore they need appropriate search and retrieval mechanisms. An approach to overcome potentially occuring problems, like e.g. high recall and low precision or the high result sensibility to the used vocabulary, is the presentation of preselected content. This paper presents an approach for the automatic ontology-based enrichment of e-learning content.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
