Researchers are interested in marital satisfaction since it is signicant for couples' psychological well-being. They have been studying the factors
that lead to a happy marriage for a long time. Adult attachment styles, according to the prior study, serve an active role in forming an intimate
relationship. The purpose of the current study was to examine the inuence of adult attachment styles (Secure, Fearful, Dismissive, and
Preoccupied) on marital satisfaction among Indian married couples. 304 respondents (152 females & 152 males) from various cities across India
participated in the study. To assess the participants' attachment styles and marital satisfaction, the Revised Adult Attachment Scale (Collins, 1996)
and ENRICH-SF Marital Satisfaction Scale (Fowers, & Olson, 1993) were used respectively. The statistical analysis was determined using the Chisquare, Kruskal-Wallis One way ANOVAand Mann-Whitney U tests. Results showed that the respondents with secure and dismissive attachment
styles had higher marital satisfaction than the respondents with preoccupied and fearful attachment styles. The study found that male and female
subjects did not differ signicantly in their attachment styles and marital satisfaction. However, participants who were married for more than 20
years were more in number to have experienced a secure attachment style and they had higher marital satisfaction. Psychotherapists and
counsellors in general, and couple therapists in particular, will benet from the current research. Further study will aid in a better understanding of
this nding.
The present study was aimed at examining the relationship between Irrational Beliefs and Depression among the late adolescent college students (N=502). Studies have found depression to be one of the most crippling disorders and the leading cause for suicide among all age groups and that this state is primarily being caused by wrong thinking and belief patterns such as irrational beliefs and further irrational beliefs are being maintained due to the depressed state of the individual. Hence the present study apart from analyzing the directions of possible relationship of Irrational Beliefs with Depression, reviews the existing literature to showcase how one causes and maintains the other.
Adolescence is considered as a crucial stage for emotional development. It is also seen as a time of hyper-emotionality, emotional conflict, and volatile mood states. Given that adolescents lack skills for emotional management, emotional distress during these years can hamper their immediate growth and adversely affect their transition to the next stage of life. Interventions that promote positive emotional development during adolescence are the need of the hour. Keeping this in focus, the present study investigated the Effect of Life Skills Training on Adolescent boys and girls with high Emotional Distress. The study used pre- and post-test experimental design with a control group to examine the stated objectives. 160 adolescent boys and girls (n=80), with a mean age of 16.44 years, were selected for the study using Positive and Negative Affect Schedule. Of these, 80 in the experimental group (boys=40, girls=40) were trained in life skills. Descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test and repeated measures of ANOVA were used to analyze obtained results. Major findings of the study indicate that Life Skills training has significant effect in reducing emotional distress and improving emotional health in adolescents. And the significance of it was found to be higher in girls compared to boys.
