Vitamin D acts in the regulation of bone metabolism and plays actions in other tissues, being considered of extreme importance. The causes of its deficiency are multifactorial, its deficiency after bariatric surgery can cause skeletal changes, calcium deficiency, increasing the risk of malignancies (colon, breast, and prostate) and chronic inflammatory or autoimmune diseases, metabolic changes, peripheral vascular disease, muscle weakness and, osteoporosis or osteomalacia. Objective- Given the importance of this nutrient, this study was designed to analyze different types of adequate doses of vitamin D that can help in the treatment of obesity and possible pathologies after bariatric surgery. MethodsFor this, it was performed a search in the Pubmed, Scielo, and Science Direct databases, with published articles in Portuguese and English. The search strategy used the keywords individually or in association with "vitamin D", "supplementation", and "bariatric surgery". There was no delimitation as to the year of publication of the articles. Results- 12 articles have been selected The findings confirmed the existence of nutritional vitamin D deficiency in people who underwent bariatric surgery and explain the importance of long-term supplementation for prevention. ConclusionTherefore, it is concluded that this deficiency in bariatric patients is evidenced in the literature, which elucidates its effects on health, demonstrating the importance of supplementation after bariatric surgery, but there is a need for more specific studies.
A vitamina D atua na regulação do metabolismo ósseo e desempenha ações em outros tecidos, sendo considerada de extrema importância. As causas de sua deficiência são multifatoriais e, sua deficiência após a cirurgia bariátrica pode causar alterações esqueléticas,deficiência de cálcio, aumentando o risco de malignidades (de cólon, mama e próstata) e,doenças inflamatórias crônicas ou autoimunes, alterações metabólicas, doença vascular periférica, fraqueza muscular e, osteoporose ou osteomalácia. Objetivo: Dada a importância desse nutriente, o objetivo deste este estudo foi analisar diferentes tipos de dosagens adequadas de vitamina D que possam auxiliar no tratamento da obesidade e possíveis patologias após a cirurgia bariátrica. Métodos: Para tanto, foi realizada uma pesquisa na base de dados PubMed, Scielo e Science Direct, com artigos publicados em português e inglês. A estratégia de busca utilizou as palavras-chaves individualmente ou em associação “vitamina D”, “suplementação”, “cirurgia bariátrica”. Não houve delimitação quanto ao ano de publicação dos artigos. Resultados: Foram selecionados 12 artigos, os quais confirmaram a existência da deficiência nutricional de vitamina D em pessoas que passaram por cirurgia bariátrica e explicitam a importância da suplementação a longo tempo para prevenção. Conclusão: Conclui-se que essa deficiência em pacientes bariátricos é evidenciada na literatura, que elucida seus reflexos na saúde demonstrando a importância da suplementação após a cirurgia bariátrica, porém há necessidade de mais estudos específicos.
