Sebagai sebuah wacana estetik, seni rupa Bandung telah cukup lama dibicarakan dalam sejarah seni rupa Indonesia. Bandung sering dibayangkan untuk menawarkan sebuah kekhususan dan kekhasan jika dibandingkan dengan seni rupa Indonesia secara umum. Satu cara yang sering dilakukan dalam memeriksa, membingkai, mendistribusikan, dan mempromosikan kekhususan tersebut adalah melalui penyelenggaraan pameran. Sebagai sebuah upaya untuk memeriksa upayaupaya termutakhir dari pembingkaian tersebut, artikel ini akan menganalisis seri pameran Bandung Contemporary (2013), utamanya dari sisi tawaran premis, metode, serta pendekatan kuratorial dan membuatnya kontekstual terhadap kemutakhiran kebudayaan Indonesia. Pameran ini membawa konteks khasnya sendiri: diselenggarakan dalam aktivitas pasar yang sedang sangat menurun dan saat seni rupa Bandung kontemporer telah teridentifikasi dan dikenal oleh publik seni rupa. Dengan menimbang konteks-konteks tersebut, lantas inovasi dan kebaruan apa yang masih bisa ditawarkan oleh BC? Melalui kacamata kajian kuratorial, artikel ini akan mendiskusikan bagaimana pameran Bandung Contemporary menggunakan pendekatan sosiologis dalam upaya pembingkaian, pendistribusian, dan promosi talenta-talenta muda Bandung dalam masa-masa yang kurang produktif tersebut. Proposisinya cukup partikular, alih-alih menawarkan jawaban 'estetik' terhadap persoalan sosiologis, BC melerai dan juga merespons melalui cara-cara yang 'sosiologis': menekankan dan memanfaatkan potensi promosional dan persuasi wacana dari penyelenggaraan sebuah pameran seni.

Approaching and thoroughly interpreting both roles in our society, mainly in how they influenced our current paradigm of culture, continue to pose risks and challenges. This article will explore the works of Gregorius Sidharta Soegijo, a renowned maestro of Bandung modern art, whose conversational practice proposes a particular means of harmonizing these antagonistic tensions and various derivatives issues that might later follow. By using art criticism as its primary modalities while simultaneously cross-referencing both modern and contemporary aesthetic paradigms, this article will demonstrate how Sidharta’s inclusive and deliberate approach might provide a dialogic site for various antagonist polarities—mainly tradition and modernity—to coexist within a democratic, horizontal, and productive axis. His audacity in contemplating inward and resorting to his idiosyncrasy would also be highlighted for its contributive nature as the pretext of his attempt to reconcile, resolve, and synthesize the long-desirable harmony between tradition and modernity. Gregorius Sidharta Soegijo, salah satu maestro patung modern Bandung, menunjukkan cara yang khas dalam menengahi beragam tegangan beserta ragam derivasi konflik yang dimunculkan. Dengan berpijak pada metode kritik seni terhadap sepilihan karya Sidharta untuk kemudian diperiksa secara menyilang baik terhadap konsep-konsep estetika modern serta kontemporer, artikel ini akan menunjukkan bagaimana Sidharta menemukan kesetimbangan untuk menghidupkan keduanya dengan berpijak pada idiosinkrasi diri untuk mempertemukan, mendamaikan, menengahi, serta melakukan arbitrase pada dikotomi tradisi dan modernitas. Keseimbangan ini ditemukannya melalui perkembangan pemaknaan diri yang secara gradual bersentuhan dengan beragam perbedaan nilai, paradigma, dan ideologi yang membawa keutamannya masing-masing.
Professional competency improvement for management at Pasraman Widya Dharma in Bandung is very important in this era of globalization. There is a need for partnership with a higher education institution to run an empowerment program in a form of training in using internet website. Website is an easily accessible information media which is suitable to publish information in informal education institutions such as Pasraman. The empowerment is intended to improve the professional competence of staffs and administrators who provide services at institutional facilities within the Bandung Hindu community. The empowerment was implemented using Service Learning method in order to optimize the potential of the community partnership with a focus on training and assistance related to improving the professional competency of the administrators and managers of the Widya Dharma Pasraman Bandung. The professional competency of the managers was observed to be improved significantly based on the result of the training program. This leads to a conclusion that the program is potential to be carried out in continual basis.
