Public Television Broadcasters (PTB) also known as non-commercial televisions are established to perform specific obligations to the public such as: to inform, educate and entertain with a variety of popular programmes. These programmes are available and accessible to all or the majority of the citizens. Public Television Broadcasters have moved towards incorporating commercial breaks into their programmes. This paper examines factors which influence viewer rating of public television in South African which ought to be informative and educational while providing suitable entertainment. Hence, this study analyses viewers' intentions for watching public television within the City of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. This study employs a descriptive survey technique to quantify data. A sample of 384 respondents participated in the research. Self-administered questionnaires, which contained mostly close-ended questions, were used to extrapolate information from potential respondents. The outcomes of this study highlight various reasons why respondents choose to watch different channels of South African Broadcasting Corporation Television (SABCTV). Analysis of the responses indicated a strong correlation between race and choice of viewing material. The South African basic education sector has been looking at adopting technology as part of their digital pedagogy; however, progress was slow since this was an overly ambitious transformation. Schools in rural communities lack infrastructure and basic needs like electricity, piped water, and ablutions. The COVID-19 phenomenon brought about the locking down, and physical distancing has further ensured that normal operations had to cease. The educational sector had to also cease physical engagement and turn to online teaching. A qualitative research method was used for this research. This chapter focuses on how teaching practices have been adapted to digital pedagogy and barriers play in successful teaching on digital platforms. The constructivism, two-way communication model, and scaffolding to provide conceptualised this research. Therefore, as part of a future study, it would be interesting to see how basic education maintains a digital teaching presence post-COVID-19 lockdown.
Women leadership in many corporate organisations are few and this is largely because of male domination. It is a growing perception of unexploited women’s leadership competence and talents in a cross-cultural corporate environment. Using a desktop research approach, this paper collected its data primarily through secondary sources and analyses them based on content, this research shows the rate of women’s low representation in most nation’s parliaments globally, which has significantly increased from 11.8% in the last two decades, precisely from 1998 to 17.8% in 2008 to 23.5 per cent in 2018. Using a crosscultural approach, women are seen to be representatively smaller with meaningful impact, rather than the few individuals, it is not to state the falling short of women’s representation in a leadership position in South Africa.
Many educational training institutes are adopting information communication technologies (ICTs) as a part of their teaching and learning strategies. There are many reasons for this adoption, such as the implementation of eLearning, which is becoming a more prominent form of delivery in the education sector, also providing students with a global competitive edge. However, South African educational institutions still face many disparities in effectively implementing eLearning. The chapter impresses on the importance of the usage of ICTs for teaching and learning. It is vital to learn the challenges lecturers and teachers face using ICTs to enhance the teaching and learning environment; the effective usage of ICTs for eLearning implementation for teaching by lecturers and how students respond to these new digital formats. Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) in conjunction with the Constructivism Theory (CT) are also discussed while promoting digital compliance.
