Pengajar bahasa Inggris mencari berbagai cara agar tenses Bahasa Inggris lebih mudah dipelajari oleh siswa. Metode pengajaran yang baik dengan media yang baik akan memicu motivasi siswa untuk belajar bahasa Inggris. Salah satu metode yang telah diuji dalam penelitian pengajaran bahasa Inggris adalah metode Silent Way. Metode ini biasanya menggunakan Fidel Chart, Word Chart dan Rod. Namun dalam penelitian pada artikel ini media tersebut diganti dengan menggunakan Lego. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi pembelajar bahasa Inggris terhadap penggunaan Lego sebagai media pembelajaran Simple Present Tense. Dalam penelitian tersebut, pembelajar EFL dengan rentang usia 14 tahun sampai 17 tahun yang menjalani kursus Bahasa Inggris semi privat dan kelompok di daerah Kuta Utara mengisi angket untuk memberikan persepsi mereka tentang proses pembelajaran dengan Lego. Persepsi siswa tentang pembelajaran Simple Present Tense menggunakan Lego diperoleh dengan pemberian angket dengan pernyataan tertutup menggunakan skala Likert. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 80% siswa merasa sangat setuju dengan penerapan lego dalam proses pembelajaran simple present tense, 20% siswa merasa setuju, 0% ragu-ragu, 0% tidak setuju dan 0% sangat tidak setuju terhadap penggunaan media lego dalam proses pembelajaran simple present tense. Oleh sebab itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa siswa memberikan persepsi positif terhadap penerapan Lego sebagai media pembelajaran Simple Present Tense.
Ketut Bagong Rental is a tourism-related SME operating vehicle rental in Badung, Bali. The SME has been in business since 2008, with 13 employees and around 300 units of motorcycles and cars for rent. However, partners experience marketing problems that are still conventional with a 90% market share concentrated in Eastern Europe. The purpose of this community service is to implement a solution in the form of creating and training in website management, information systems, branding and digital marketing campaigns. From the series of activities in this project, Ketut Bagong Rental has experienced noticeable impact in terms of market diversification (the proportion is now 60-40, with new markets developing for Western Europeans, Australians, and US nationals as renters). In addition, the company is now more confident in charging a premium for their rental, such that even without any significant increase in the number of vehicles, the revenue has increased 30% compared to the beginning of this project. Business digitalization efforts have also resulted in the increased resilience of Ketut Bagong Rental in facing the competitive climate of vehicle rental in Bali.
ABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh strategi analisis fitur semantis dalam pengajaran kosakata bahasa Inggris kepada pembelajar muda. Pembelajar muda yang dimaksud adalah anak berumur 5-12 tahun. Scoot dan Ytreberg (1990) menjelaskan karakter ekspresif pembelajar muda bisa menjadi keuntungan dalam pembelajaran. Diasumsikan bahwa strategi ini membantu pembelajar memahami kosakata melalui fitur makna terkait sehingga pembelajar dapat membedakan kosakata bahasa Inggris. Penggunaan kata-kata bersinonim biasanya membingungkan pembelajar bahasa asing karena kurang memahami makna antarkata. Oleh karena itu, penggunaan kata-kata bersinonim seperti see-look, hear-listen dan juga kosakata dalam 1 kelas seperti turtle-tortoise dalam kelas reptilia menjadi perhatian dalam penelitian ini. Metode dan teknik yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data adalah observasi partisipatoris. Metode deskriptif dan teknik penelitian tindakan kelas digunakan dalam penganalisisan data. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan strategi analisis fitur semantis berpengaruh pada pemahaman pembelajar muda dalam mempelajari kosakata bahasa Inggris ditandai dengan kemampuan pembelajar membedakan antarkata bersinonim dengan mendeskripsikan fitur semantisnya.Kata kunci: bahasa Inggris, Makna, Analisis Fitur Semantis, Sinonim, Pembelajar muda.ABSTRACTThis research aims to know whether semantic feature analysis strategy works in teaching English vocabulary to young learners. “Young learners” term used refer to 5-12 year old learners. Scoot and Ytreberg (1990) explained that expressive characteristics of young learners can be an advantage in learning. It is assumed that this strategy helps learners to understand vocabularies through related semantic features of word so that the learners can distinguish among English vocabularies. Synonymy use tend to be ambiguous for foreign language learners because they lack of meaning’s understanding of words. Therefore, synonymy use such as see-look, hear-listen and also vocabularies in 1 class like turtle-tortoise in reptile class as concerns in this research. Participation-observation is used as method and technique of collecting data. Meanwhile, descriptive method and classroom action research technique are used in analyzing data. This result shows that Semantic Feature Analysis (SFA) strategy influence over young learners’ understanding in learning English vocabularies that being marked with learners’ ability to distinguish among synonymous words with by describing their semantic features.Keywords: English vocabulary, Meaning, Semantic Feature Analysis, Synonymy, Young learners
Presentations that consist of many sentences, causing students to be unable to develop their use of language. They prefer to read rather than to explain the material by using their own words. This will affect the students' speaking skills. Therefore, this study discusses the students' language used in a presentation by using mind mapping. By using a mind mapping strategy, students are not able to write down all the sentences they present. They only write down the important points of the material so they have to try to make their sentences to explain their material. This research was conducted in two cycles. The data obtained were analyzed based on the theory of surface strategy taxonomy and it was explained descriptively qualitatively. The results showed that the grammatical errors made by students in their presentations using the mind mapping strategy were in the category of omission, addition, misformation and misordering.Keywords: Mind mapping; speaking skill; surface strategy taxonomy
The mastery of vocabulary will give impact to someone’s language skill. It becomes a very important part because language will always use the vocabulary. In Indonesia, learning English vocabulary has begun at an early age. This process becomes ineffective for the learners because they are only requested to take note and memorize the vocabulary without having opportunity to understand that some words are related to one another. Therefore, this study was designed to determine student learning outcomes in understanding English vocabulary in the theme of description by using semantic features strategy with the help of picture media. The respondents of this research were 12-13 years old students at BSD course in Badung Regency. The data in this study were quantitative data obtained from the score of descriptive text. Penelitian ini mengambil responden siswa usia 12-13 tahun pada Bimbel BSD di Kabupaten Badung. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa data kuantitatif yang diperoleh dari teks deskripsi yang dibuat siswa. Hasil dari penelitian ini menujukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam pada teks deskripsi setelah belajar kosakata Bahasa Inggris dalam tema description menggunakan strategi fitur semantis dengan bantuan media gambar.Kata kunci: Kosakata, fitur-fitur semantis, media gambar, teks deskripsi
