Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are key to create sustainable higher education institutions (HEIs). Most researchers focused on the students’ perspective, especially during the online teaching caused by COVID-19; however, university teachers are often forgotten, having their opinion missing. This study’s objective was to determine the factors that contribute to the inclusion of ICTs. The research based on a comparative study through an online qualitative survey focused on the inclusion and use of ICTs in two HEIs and two different moments (pre-and post-lockdowns). There were differences regarding country and working experience (p < 0.001), being linked to the ICTs use, evaluation of obstacles, and the role given to ICTs (p < 0.05). The COVID-19 caused modifications of the teachers’ perspectives, including an improvement of the opinion of older teachers regarding the essentialness of ICTs in the teaching process (p < 0.001) and worsening their perception about their ICTs skill (p < 0.05). Additionally, an initial model focused only on the university teachers and their use of ICTs has been proposed. In conclusion, the less experienced university teachers used more ICTs, identified more greatly the problematic factors, and considered more important the ICTs, with the perception of all teachers modified by COVID-19.

Abstract-In this paper, an introduction to the main design features of a computer-aided educational package addressed to students of the final years of Electronic and Computer Engineering is presented. The software includes interrelated tutorial, computer simulations, and test questions in which graphical outputs, hypertexts, and animations are widely used. The package is devoted to the simulation study of electrooptic and acoustooptic theory and devices. It provides instant numerical evaluation and a graphical display of different studies. The software presented in this paper has all the following features: an integrative character, self-evaluation tests, a personalized and active learning process, adaptability to teacher's aims, versatility as a teaching tool, multimedia resources, and simplicity. This study has been completed with final-year students at the Superior Polytechnic School of Cordoba, Spain, with highly favorable results when compared with students who did not use the software.
In this work the characteristics and educational applications of a virtual computer-assisted environment teaching related with the motion of projectiles subjected to the force of the air (http://rabfis15.uco.es/lvct/descargas/fisica/17/) is presented. This web portal has been designed as an interactive tutorial system including several modules (simulations, problem resolution, knowledge evaluation, etc.), it has been applied as a complementary teaching aid for the subject Physics in the first year of Engineering and it is aimed to improve the understanding of the influence of the friction forces which vary with the speed of the two-dimensional motions. The software presented has all the following features: integrative character, self-evaluation tests, personalized and active learning process, adaptability to teacher's aims, versatility as a teaching tool, multimedia resources and simplicity. This study has been carried out with students of the Higher Technical College (in Spanish: Escuela Politécnica Superior, EPS) Cordoba (Spain), with highly favourable results when compared with students who did not use the software.
