A new theoretical model is introduced for the calculation of the absorbed dose in a cavity irradiated with X- or gamma -rays. It provides a method for evaluating the electron spectrum in the cavity by means of data on transmission, energy degradation and backscatter. Spencer's two-step model for energy deposition has been modified. The results are fitted to the Burlin expression. This yields a calculated value for the attenuation coefficient.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
