Esta investigación analizó las fuentes de formación utilizadas y necesidad de conocimiento de los entrenadores de rugby españoles en la región andaluza en España. Los participantes fueron 256 entrenadores de diferentes equipos de la región mencionada. Los datos se recolectaron mediante el uso de un cuestionario validado que analizaba aspectos relacionados con la formación permanente. Los resultados indicaron que los entrenadores de Andalucía utilizan métodos de adquisición de conocimiento informal más que formal y no formal. Las fuentes de conocimiento más utilizadas fueron el intercambio de conocimiento con otros profesionales. Las fuentes de conocimiento menos utilizadas fueron la lectura de libros o revistas y la experiencia previa. Además, se descubrió que la metodología de preferencia de los entrenadores para la capacitación de entrenadores es el video análisis, cursos, seminarios… y los grupos de trabajo de coaching sobre los temas de la metodología del entrenamiento, táctica y sistemas de juego, técnica individual y colectiva y psicología del entrenamiento.

Doing sport has increased over recent decades and as a result sport now has great social, educational and political significance. Rugby is a sport known for its ability to convey values and promote individual abilities. Some studies suggest that this sport is not being taught appropriately by federations and in schools. Accordingly, there is a need to examine and find out more about the people in charge of teaching rugby, namely coaches. This study is designed to provide greater understanding of the situation on the ground in coaching this sport by studying training in Cadiz province. To that end research was carried out using a quantitative methodology by means of a questionnaire to obtain data concerning two dimensions: teaching experience and initial training. Once the process of developing the instrument had been completed, it was administered to 50 male and female coaches in Cadiz province using non-probabilistic sampling. Following descriptive and correlation analysis, the main results enable us among other things to conclude that the participating rugby coaches in Cadiz province do not have sufficient experience or initial training to perform their work.
The sport practice has increased during the last decades, which has propitiated that sport became a great social, educational and politic phenomenon. Therefore, governments of developed countries have increased the investment in the coaching development. Research shows the importance of the theoretical and practical bases for coaching transmitted in formal training activities, however is also questioned the effectiveness of these type of courses. Consequently, it is critical to study and to know more about these training processes. In this study, it have been sought to better understand the reality of the rugby training courses in the province of Almería (Spain). It have been carried out a quantitative methodology, via a questionnaire, which achieved related data for the initial formation of the coaches. Once the process of elaboration of the instrument was concluded, it was applied to 27 rugby coaches in the province of Almería. In this sense, a descriptive analysis was performed, and according to the most relevant results, it can be deducted that the most of the rugby coaches surveyed have the minimum level of coaching certification, and that they agree with the duration, content and distribution of theoretical and practical activities during the courses carried out by the Andalusian federation.
