Novel Ring Transformation of Nitropyrimidinone; Synthetic Equivalent of α-Nitroformylacetic Acid.-Ring transformation of nitropyrimidinone (I) with ketones proceeds in the presence of an ammonium salt to give nitropyridones and pyrimidines in moderate yields.
