Sheikh ‘Abd al-Hayye al-Fārūqī (1887-1965) was determined to address human beings through the oral lectures and the academic writings. According to him, a person cannot explain the religion and its significant features except through the Holy Qurān, and the entity of the Islamic movement cannot be established except by directly benefiting from the Holy Book which revealed to guide people. Therefore, Sheikh “Abdul Hayye al-Fārūqī (late) felt the need for an interpretation that includes clarification of Islamic rulings and beliefs with the explanation of the words of al-Qurān and their clarification of meanings in the easy Urdu language for the common people. “Dars-e Qurān” of al-Fārūqī seems a significant contribution to the Qurānic exegesis in Indo-Pak Sub-Continent in Urdu language and it needs to be explored in terms of its method and relevance to our times. This paper explores its contemporary relevance and analyzes with critical appreciation.
Poverty is an economic condition referring to the unavailability of basic necessities for the survival of human beings. It includes food, health, education, shelter, etc. to reduce Poverty is a long and difficult process. It is designed to decrease the economic deficiency level of groups, communities, regions, or countries. About 29% of the population lives under poverty rate in Pakistan. The government of Pakistan took loans from the World Bank, IMF, and other monitoring organizations to reduce poverty and provide job opportunities for the poor for the uplift of marginalized groups or communities. However, it does not work; the major reason is the corrupt system that does not deliver said services to poor people. Whereas Islam has the capacity to reduce poverty through Islamic philanthropy, which is a basic element in Islamic teaching. Philanthropy is effective because it is given to the poor without any personal liking or disliking, without even involving others or even identifying those groups and communities. Zakat is one of the types of Islamic philanthropy that contains "divine and moral" significance. It is an injunction from Allah Almighty that those, who pay the zakat are considering trade with Allah (SWT), and it has moral and humanitarian significance that an individual who pays zakat will reduce poverty and empathy with the poor. The purpose behind this study is to examine the factors contributing to the prevalence of large number of eunuchs worldwide, with specifically focus on Pakistan. The Eunuchs are marginalized subcultural groups that include those who identified as genderqueer women. Their unique begging techniques, such as slapping their hollow hands together, are one of their strategies to divert others attention towards them. Data for the paper was gathered from 12 semi-structured interviews with Eunuch and three semi-structured interviews with Guru in three Dera locations: Taxila, Wah, and Hasanabdal. Their live experiences were also recorded from childhood to old age across a wide range of settings, such as family, school, Guru, Dera colleagues, the workplace, and encounters with the public. The findings showed that, despite the fact that some of the eunuchs that come out in the market may look or behave in a manner that is often associated with eunuchs, most of them are male, and some of them were even married. They adopt it for economic reasons; however, adopting an artificial female role has caused role conflict in their lives. Traditionally, at household level, a male is supposed to take care of the home, such as finances, and appear masculine, but adopting an artificial female role for the male body increases the complications at social and family levels. The men by the name of Bread Winner have been facing exploitation, pushing them to adopt a character that is culturally and socially forbidden in the Pakistani community.
