The present study aims to investigate the impact of project communication on project success with the mediating role of trust and the moderating role of authentic leadership. The sample is drawn using a convenient sampling technique. The data is collected through the online survey method due to the COVID-19 pandemic, from project-based construction companies of Pakistan ( n = 245). The analyses are established using SPSS v.25 and AMOS v.23 software to test hypotheses. The results indicate that project communication is positively associated with project success; trust mediates the relationship between project communication and project success. Similarly, results also confirm that the moderating role of authentic leadership is strengthening the relationship between project communication and trust. This research is beneficial for project managers, site supervisors, and leaders, since project managers need to develop communication and trust between the employees as communication, leads to the successful completion of projects and achievement of goals. Managers should connect the employees so that the workflow does not get disturbed. Lack of communication can badly affect the success of the project and lead it toward failure. The manager or work supervisor needs to keep all the employees bound together so that they perform effectively.
Grammar is one of the essential aspects of language learning, particularly in second language learning. There have been various studies conducted to address the grammatical problems students face in writing while learning English as a second language. Therefore, this study explored the accuracy order of the grammatical morphemes in learners of English at an intermediate level. Specifically, it looked at the accuracy order of five English grammatical morphemes: plural –s, possessive –‘s/ ‘morpheme, regular and irregular past, progressive –ing morpheme, third-person singular s/es. Further, this study aims to compare the order of acquisition of the grammatical morphemes in male and female students and the overall order of acquisition of five grammatical morphemes in the intermediate level students. The current study is based on the theoretical assumptions provided by Dulay and Burt (1973) and Krashen (1977) for the morpheme order acquisition for L2 contexts. The data was collected through a stratified sampling technique in questionnaires from thirty male and thirty female students of intermediate level from different areas of Muzaffarabad, Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. The study's findings show that the accuracy order for the grammatical morphemes are: regular and irregular verb, third-person singular morpheme, possessive morpheme, plural morpheme, and progressive morpheme. The results also show that the order of morpheme acquisition in male and female students is different. Females acquire regular and irregular verbs first, and at last, they acquire progressive morpheme, while males acquire regular and irregular verbs first, and at last, they acquire plural morphemes. Moreover, the current research contradicts Dulay and Burt's (1973) and Krashen's (1977) research concerning grammatical morpheme acquisition. In the light of generated results, the current study also suggests a need to adequately designed classroom activities to facilitate the grammatical morpheme acquisition of EFL/ESL learners.
Newspaper is an important genre and a source through which people can get information related to different topics and issues. In the newspaper columns, authors express their viewpoints through their writing. Many studies have been conducted on the move structure analysis of different genres. But there is limited significant work done on the move structure of the columns. The current study aims at exploring move structure in the newspaper columns and to analyze function of these move patterns in the text of newspaper columns. The data for the current study was collected from two Pakistani English newspapers; The Pakistan Today and The Nation. A total of fifty columns were randomly taken for the current study, twenty five columns from each newspaper. The selected columns were written by different authors and these were published in November, 2018. Then, these newspaper columns were analyzed manually by using the theoretical assumptions of Swales' (1990) and Bhatia' (1993) concept of genre analysis and different moves were identified in the selected columns. The findings of the study showed that there were five most frequently occurring moves; title, introduction, discussion, conclusion and recommendations. It was also found that the writers employed these moves as different strategies to engage readers in the text and convey information and their stand point about an issue. At last, the researcher came up with the proposed model for move structure in newspaper columns. The current study will be significant for the novice writers who want to produce their own writing effectively in the newspaper columns and will broaden the horizon of genre analysis of different newspaper sub-genres.
From the beginning of the scholarly work on the women, most of the research have been carried out by opposite gender. Therefore, there have been limited work done to see how a woman portrays another woman in her writings. Moreover, there have been limited research conducted utilizing corpus tools for the analysis of gynocriticism. Thus, the present research aims to examine The Color Purple by Alice Walker by employing the corpus-based approach to investigate the representation of female character by the author in the novel. The positive or negative portrayal of women by the author in the novel was investigated through author’s usage of adjectives. Showalter's (2009) Theory of Gynocriticsim was used as a theoretical framework for the current research. Further, corpus-based methodology was employed to analyze how Alice Walker has portrayed the female character in her novel through the use of adjectives. An in-depth analysis has shown that Alice Walker has depicted woman as a helpless and sidelined being who can be turned as a resilient after suffering from frightful circumstances. The current research also opens new gates for the researchers to analyze the text from Gynocriticial perspective along with corpus techniques. Keywords: Adjectives; Corpus-based analysis; Gynocriticsim; The Color Purple; Woman
