In our study, we will talk about how training differs from a traditional foreign language class in higher education institutions and whether it is possible to completely replace pairs of English for Specific Purposes (hereinafter ESP) with trainings. We need to figure out whether trainings are needed in the standard educational process, or whether it is better to carry them out to extracurricular practice. What skills should a teacher possess in order to prepare an ESP training so that it differs from a traditional class. We will consider the concept of «training» as an alternative to practical lessons in the classroom or as a supplement to the basic program of the ESP curriculum. The relevance of our work is revealed through the emphasis on the importance of improving foreign language courses at universities by integrating practical classes, where sufficient attention will be paid to the development of soft skills of the future specialists. Such parameters as innovativeness, game methods, emotionality and creativity during learning will help to understand how to most effectively influence the procedure of the lesson for the best assimilation of the material by students. But the main parameter that we have to consider will be the improvement of the practical knowledge of ESP teachers for their further application in order to advance the soft skills of students of higher educational institutions. The object of our research is the concept of «training» as an alternative or supplement to traditional ESP classes at universities. The subject of our work is the improvement of teachers' practical knowledge for their further application in English classes for Specific Purposes. As a goal, we determine the study of relevance and effectiveness of ESP trainings as an appropriate and productive method of developing soft skills among students of higher educational institutions.
The competence in quick navigation of information flows, making informed and responsible decisions, determining own position based on moral and ethical attitudes are becoming essential soft skills for the modern student. Such skills are acquired through constant intellectual development, critical thinking, focus on moral values, and so on. Therefore, obtaining a profession should be accompanied by the formation of personality, which will be marked by the necessary level of soft skills for society, professional growth, and especially developed skills to think critically. Such task becomes relevant in the process of foreign languages teaching, which helps the student to facilitate the process of integration in particular into the market of international vacancies and in general to understand better the trends of the modern world and the place of a person in it. Following the relevance of the study, we have identified the following tasks: based on research by various domestic and foreign scientists to discern how to stimulate learners to think critically; to analyze the basic innovative teaching methods included in the course of English for Specific Purposes. The practical significance of the obtained results is that the analyzed teaching methods of foreign languages for the development of critical thinking can be used in practice in higher education programs. Accordingly, the most substantial task for modern students is to learn to accept new information, control it, question it, combine it, process it, adapt it or discard it. Educators, in turn, must develop the intellectual and creative abilities of learners, their capacity to acquire new knowledge and comprehend it on their own, to process different sources of information.
