Teachers’ intention to use technology is a major factor in its effective use in learning including in developing countries. This research empirically investigated on factors that influence Pre-Service Science Teachers’ (PSSTs) intention to use Web 2.0 in learning through Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) in Indonesia. The goals of the research were to (a) report if the TAM is a valid and reliable model to explain PSSTs intention to use Web 2.0, and (b) inform the factors of PSSTs’ intention to use Web 2.0 in learning. Seven hundred and five PSSTs from five universities completed a 24-item online questionnaire based on the TAM constructs comprising perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, subjective norm, facilitating conditions, attitudes, and intention to use Web 2.0. Results obtained using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) informed that (a) facilitating condition and subjective norm significantly influenced perceived ease of use; (b) subjective norm significantly affected perceived usefulness; (c) both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness was a significant factor predicting attitude; and (d) attitude, perceived ease of use, and perceived usefulness significantly influenced intention to use Web 2.0. Overall, the TAM is a valid model to help explain Indonesian PSSTs’ intention to use Web 2.0 in learning. Keywords: Web 2.0, technology acceptance model, pre-service science teachers.
The study was aimed to investigate the students’ English reading learning styles used by EFL undergraduate students. The participants were students from one English study program at Faculty Teacher Training and Education in Jambi, which aims to produce teachers in English teaching. This study used total sampling with 75 participants consisting of 22 participants in the second semester, and 53 participants in the sixth semester. The analysis of the data was based on the students’ response to twenty five statements that consist of five parts: there are auditory, kinesthetic, group, visual, and individual. For which they were required to choose any of five alternatives namely strongly agree, agree, not sure, disagree, and strongly disagree. The results revealed that the most preferred reading learning style among the respondents was the auditory learning style and the least is visual learning style. Then, for the gender male used kinesthetic learning style and female used auditory learning style. In this study, suggestions for future research, students, lectures and university are also discussed.
Good teaching is obviously significant for education. There is no much definitive empirical evidence that motivational determinants of mismatched teachers keep teaching while they are also challenged by unintended consequences of being mismatched teachers. This case study sought to find out mismatched women teachers' motivations in public secondary schools. The data were collected mainly through semi-structured interviews. All interview data were recorded, transcribed, analyzed, and divided into themes. We followed the stages including:(a) preparing, engaging and immersing ourselves with the interview data, (b) creating preliminary codes, (c) seeking out for themes and sub-themes, (d) looking over or reviewing themes, (e) classifying and identifying themes. Our recursive analysis of the data helped us to conclude three major themes and several sub-themes including interpersonal factors: supportive colleagues and family, social service factors: obligation as educators, and challenges (content knowledge, the non-availability of teaching and learning materials, low salary but not feel dejected). Recommendations and implications are also discussed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
