The region of passive/active state of pure titanium in aerated and deaerated dilute HCl solutions was determined and hydrogen absorption of titanium in the passive region was investigated. The results obtained are as follows. (1) The passive region of titanium was wider in the aerated HCl solutions than in the deaerated solutions. (2) In the aerated HCl solutions, titanium scarcely absorbed hydrogen at the whole temperature range of 70C to 250C. (3) In the deaerated HCl solutions, hydrogen absorption of titanium increased with increasing acidity and temperature of solution but did not increase over 200C.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
