With the advancement of technology, social media positively and negatively influence students' academic achievement, mainly in higher institutions. The increased number of social media accounts shows that teenager mostly spends their time on social media. Thus, this paper will discuss and assess the impact of social media usage in an e-learning environment on student academic achievement in a higher education institution. Social media could be a tool or learning aid for them to improve their academic by joining online group learning, virtual meetings, and video conferencing to communicate with an expert within their field. The published and unpublished work has been dug out through online platforms to know and understand the impact of social media on student academic achievement. With the advance of Information technology and explosion of information, the business environment is become more competitive than before. Additional technologies such internet, fiber optics, satellite and wireless communication are bringing dramatic and fundamental changes to both business environment and the way they do business. Organization must know how to compete, sustain and achieve strategic position in the industry. In order to do that, they must know how to acquire and utilize information as well as their related resources strategically and they must understand the strategic direction of the organization. Strategic Information Management (SIM) is defined as a situation in which information and related resources (i.e. information technology information professionals) are used or utilized by an organization (profit or non-profit) to support, implement or achieve strategic position in order to gain competitive advantage/strategic advantage. An understanding of the factors that drive SIM to become contributor to organization in winning the marketplace remains an important phenomenon of interest. However, there is a lack of theory-driven empirical research that systematically investigates the factors that influence organizations to be ready or successful implementing SIM in Malaysian organizations. This study bridges the extant gaps in the literature by investigating the antecedent of SIM in Malaysian organization that contributes to the successful implementation of SIM.
In the era of born-digital, most of us nowadays always looking for the fastest way in the information-seeking process. The society has widely used the usage of internet as the information-seeking tools. However, the credibility of information vague without unknown information on the sources of that information. This paper will discuss how the knowledge society deals with the rapid changes in information and the informationseeking process. This paper also discusses the importance of being information literate and the importance of Media and Information Literacy skills to be adapted in the society as well as the discussion regarding the role of the information professional as a gatekeeper to the knowledge society and the importance of digital libraries in providing the right information for the society. Library and information professional is a key player to deliver the right and trusted information to the society and society can contribute towards developing the information society within their community. Contribution/ Originality: This study contributes to the existing literature on how the ways society views online information in a different dimension. It is important to evaluate and judge the quality of information content and the criteria of online information on the web.
