Despite consistent monitoring by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), the fabrication of fake halal logos and certificates by irresponsible parties continues to challenge the integrity and authenticity of halal products. Malaysia's Halal Certification Procedures (Second Revision, 2012) state that companies operating in Malaysia need to develop their Halal Assurance System (HAS) to strengthen the management of halalrelated matters within organizations. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of perceived benefits and traceability practices on readiness for Halal Assurance System (HAS) implementation. The study was conducted through a cross-sectional survey, and simple random sampling was employed. At the end of the data collection period, a total of 139 responses from halal-certified small and medium enterprises (SMEs) were obtained. Structural equation modeling with Amos graphics was used to perform a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and a causal path analysis. Results indicate that perceived market/competition benefits and perceived operational benefits are positively related to traceability systems implementation and readiness for HAS. It was found that traceability systems are fully needed to bridge the connection between perceived benefits and readiness for HAS. This paper has important implications for resource-based theory, literature on HAS and traceability, SMEs, and halal authorities and certifying bodies. Limitations and directions for future studies are provided.
Purpose Despite the importance of collaborative planning, forecasting, and replenishment (CPFR), its influence on supply chain innovation capability (SCIC) and supply chain performance (SCP) has not been sufficiently examined. The purpose of this paper is to examine the antecedence of SCP through CPFR and SCIC. Design/methodology/approach Through cluster and stratified random sampling, 286 responses from top managers of 1,574 Nigerian manufacturing companies were analyzed. Data analysis was performed using structural equation modeling with AMOS graphics. Findings The results show that SCIC has a full mediating effect on the relationship between CPFR and SCP. Specifically, CPFR has a significant relationship with both SCP and SCIC, and SCIC also relates significantly to SCP. Practical implications This study offers implications for manufacturers in developing countries in general, and in Nigeria in particular, by providing a guideline on how to improve SCP through CPFR. Originality/value The paper contributes to the limited studies on CPFR and SCP by extending this line of study into the realm of innovation capability and innovation. It integrates the social exchange theory and the dynamic capabilities theory to examine the collaborative processes of CPFR in the supply chain context. This study stressed the importance of boundary theoretical spanning by extending CPFR and SCP into the domain of innovation capability.
Purpose Transformational leadership (TL) is one among the leadership behaviors that is important in a period of uncertainty and continuous change. The behavior affects employees’ job satisfaction (JS) and performance. Nevertheless, there is an inconclusive debate over how organizational justice (OJ) can help transformational leaders to influence employees’ (JS). Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to investigate the role of OJ on the relationship between TL and employees’ JS. Design/methodology/approach The study employed a quantitative research design based on cross-sectional strategy. Structured questionnaires were distributed and data were collected from a sample of 418 middle managers of public organizations in Nigeria. Multiple regressions aided by structural equation modeling were employed to test four hypotheses. Findings The regression results support the mediating role of OJ, such as distributive, procedural, interpersonal and informational justice between TL and JS. Equally, the relationship between TL and JS, TL and OJ, and OJ and JS are all positive and significant. Overall, the influence of TL and OJ has a strong explanatory effect on JS. Originality/value This study adds to the literature of human resource management and organizational behavior by empirically validating and integrating TL theory with the four dimensions of OJ theory. The study will be beneficial to the top management and middle-level employees in public organizations.
As competition shifts away between competitors to supply chains, simultaneous sharing of technical expertise on product design is key to manufacturing success. Thus, purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of concurrent engineering of product design (CEPD) on the relationship between advanced manufacturing technology (AMT) and supply chain performance (SCP). The paper is a cross-sectional study, and data was collected among top managers of manufacturing companies. Cluster and systematic random sampling techniques were used to select the respondents. Structural equation modeling (Amos graphic) was used for analysis. The study found a positive relationship between advanced manufacturing technology and supply chain performance, advanced manufacturing technology and concurrent engineering of product design, and concurrent engineering of product design and supply chain performance. It also concluded that concurrent engineering of product design is a full mediator between advanced manufacturing technology and supply chain performance.
This paper work aims at examining the strategic planning as a tool for enhancing corporate performance and analyses strategic planning tools and its implementation process. However, it has been noticed that organization are no longer seen to be focused and real. Evidence of actionable plans are no longer there in our organization as indication of appropriate strategic plan. A study was conducted into books of notable authors written on strategic planning and corporate performance and selected ideas are compiled in this paper report. Data used for analysis were collected through questionnaires and interview conducted. It was discovered that organization adopts strategic planning; it was also found that strategic planning is effective in organization policy. Finally, having discovered that strategic planning contributes to the profit of an organization and it equally has impact on the corporate performance in an organization. The paper recommends that as a result of effectiveness of strategic planning, organization should continue to adopt it and give more priority and also government should create enabling economic environment that will make strategic planning a fruitful weapon.
