Hemiplegic gait was improved by both orthoses. However, metallic AFOs provided better stabilization of the ankle, allowing improved heel strike and push-off.
Use of a temporary prosthesis results in ideal shaping of the stump in the shortest period of time. This approach also shortens the period of transition to permanent prosthesis, improves the quality of life of the amputee, and re-integrates the patient to normal life over a shorter period of time.
Our study has been carried out to phantom sensation, phantom pain and residual limb pain in patients with lower limb amputations. 30 amputces were evaluatcd by using guestionnare. To start the using of prosthesis and to have the duration of prosthesis were determined among phantom sensation, phantom pain and residual limb pain.İn this study, low phantom sensation and low phantom pain were showed in amputees by using their prostheses in a year after amputation. Also high residual limb pain was determined in amputees have used in a year and över. As a conciusion, prostheses should be carried out to lower limb amputees on time and be considered changes of the stump depends on using period of prostheses.
