The visual impairment students need support in personnel activities. Visual impairment students are extremely vulnerable because of limiting access to health information and ability to live a healthy lifestyle. Aim: Study aimed to evaluate the effect of Audio drama based educational program on healthy life style practices among visually impaired students Design: A quasi experimental pre/post-test research design was utilized. Setting: Al-Nour school for the Blind, Kafr El-Sheikh governorate. Sample: A purposive sample of 210 visually impaired students. Tools I: Structured interviewing Questionnaire which consisted of four parts 1. Assess socio-demographic data; 2. Assess medical and family history for students; 3. Questionnaire for assessing student knowledge regards personal hygiene 4. Student satisfaction Questionnaire with the audioeducational sessions. II: Health-Related Lifestyle Questionnaire to assess the student life style. Results: There were diminish of visually impairment students' knowledge and practices regarding personal hygiene and healthy lifestyle before implementing the Audio drama sessions. In addition, there were an enhancement in students' total knowledge and practices scores post provision the Audio-drama teaching sessions with highly statistically significant differences at P<0.01. Conclusion:The Audio drama educational sessions were effective in improvement the visually impaired students' knowledge and practices regarding Lifestyle. Recommendation: Raising awareness of students about the personal hygiene and healthy lifestyle by further educational and training programs especially for disable and visual impairment students.
Climate change is impacting human lives and health in a variety of ways. It threatens the essential ingredients of good health as; clean air, safe drinking water, nutritious food supply and safe shelter and has the potential to undermine decades of progress in global health. Aim: To evaluate the effect of awareness program regarding climate change on knowledge, attitude and practices of university students. Design: A quasi-experimental design. Setting: Faculty of Nursing, Kafr elsheikh University. Sampling: A systematic random sample consists of 425 students. Tool I: Structured questionnaire; composed of two parts. Part 1: Students' personal characteristics. Part 2: Students' knowledge regarding climate change. Tool II: Students' daily life reported practices questionnaire. Tool III: Students' attitude regarding climate change questionnaire. Tool IV: Students' awareness of climate change questionnaire. Results: There was a highly statistical significant difference between knowledge level, attitude and daily life practices of the university students regarding climate changes pre & post awareness program implementation. There was a positive correlation between knowledge, daily life practices & attitude of university students total scores pre/post program implementation at P<0.000. Conclusion: The awareness program has a significant positive effect on the students' level of knowledge; attitude and daily life reported practices regarding the climate change. Recommendation: Considerable work needs to be done in the direction of integrating climate change concepts into the university curriculums in order to increase the environmental awareness among all university students irrespective of their study specialization.
Background: Deep venous thrombosis is an acute condition resulting in maternal morbidity and death. Aim: To evaluate the effect of education program about deep venous thrombosis among pregnant women in antenatal clinic. Design: A quasiexperimental pretest-posttest control group design. Setting: The study was conducted at the antenatal outpatient clinic at Woman's Health Hospital, Assiut Governorate. Subjects: A purposive sample of 200 pregnant women (100 pregnant women for each study and control groups). Tool I: A Structured interview questionnaire: divided to 3 parts. Part (1): Personal data, part (2): Medical and obstetric history, part (3): Pregnant women knowledge about deep venous thrombosis (DVT). Tool II: Reported checklist for pregnant women regarding DVT preventive measures practices. Tool III: Post-natal maternal outcomes' follow up. Results:The majority of pregnant women were more than 35 years. There were highly statistical significant differences between knowledge and practice scores regarding DVT preventive measures pre and post program. Conclusion:It could be inferred that the level of pregnant women's knowledge and practices toward DVT preventive measures in the study group was significantly improved by the effect of the educational program when compared with the control group. Recommendation: Integration of education programs regarding DVT preventive measures among pregnant women in the antenatal routine care.
Background: Prevention of the new technology followings is a great challenge. Eye health complications become one of the most urgent threats that should be fought. Aim: To evaluate the effect of implementing an awareness strategy on prevention of digital eye strain (DES) among nursing students in the era of COVID-19 pandemic. Setting: This study was conducted at Faculty of Nursing -Kafr-Elsheikh University. Research Design: A quasi experimental design (one group pretest/ posttest) was utilized to conduct this study. Sampling: A stratified random sample from the nursing college included 128 students. Tools: Three tools were used. Tool I: Self-Administered Questionnaire consisted of three parts. 1 st part: The socio-demographic data. 2 nd part: Digital device use among nursing students; 3 rd part: Assessing the nursing students' knowledge regarding DES. Tool II: Student reported practice checklist, used for assessing nursing students' practices toward DES preventive measures among students. Tool III: Students' DES perception scale. Results: A significant difference was found between students' total knowledge scores (19.5%, 77.3%) pre and post-respectively. There was a highly statistical significant improvement toward all DES preventive measures' practices among students post application than pre. DES preventive measures practice scores were (18.8%, 69.5%) pre & post application respectively. A highly significant difference was found between students' positive perception level pre and postapplication (18% & 97%) respectively. Conclusion: The awareness strategy regarding DES had a highly significant positive effect on improving the nursing students' knowledge, preventive measures' practices and perception regarding DES. Recommendation: Developing training programs for all nursing students as a frequent computer and digital devices users as part of education.
