The results of the study show that the Hikayat Pocut Muhammad tells of a system of government based on local wisdom with three main elements: (1) regional policy; (2) defense system; and (3) social system. This is realized by the presence of leadership with character through (1) the respect of the community; (2) provide conflict resolution; and (3) morally educated. This study interpreted the religiosity aspect of the Hikayat Prang Cumbok as a method of resolving social and ethnic conflicts in Aceh. What were the problems explored by the value of religiosity that caused the emergence of social conflicts in Aceh, and what concepts of religiosity were the alternative resolutions for resolving these social conflicts? The data collection method used was the manuscript study method. The data was taken from the text of the Hikayat Prang Cumbok because this saga is powerful in telling the reality of social conflict in Aceh. The data were analyzed in descriptive qualitative. The results of the study showed that the aspect of religiosity that appears in the Hikayat Prang Cumbok can be seen in three forms: (1) social religiosity, (2) divine religiosity, and (3) universal religiosity. The religiosity aspect of conflict resolution in this saga is based on reasons of faith and morality. Aqeedah is related to the relationship with Allah (hambluminallah), while morality is related to the relationship between humans (hambluminannas) and humans and the universe. From these three things, it can be seen that morality towards humans and the universe cannot be separated from morality towards God.
This study focuses on the conceptualization of jihad in the text of Hikayat Prang Sabi by Teungku Chik Pante Kulu. This study provides a constructive discourse of thought for readers in understanding jihad. This study narrates jihad as literally meaning ‘striving’ or ‘struggling’ in Arabic, such as in wars, and it also examines the conceptualization of jihad in Acehnese literary texts. The method used in this research is descriptive-qualitative. The data were analyzed through a literary hermeneutic approach so that the interpretation of the Hikayat Prang Sabi text can be considered a universal truth in the lives of the Acehnese and Muslim communities in the world regarding the concept of jihad. The results of the analysis show that the concept of jihad in the Hikayat Prang Sabi is divided into three: (1) jihad for religious reasons, (2) jihad to defend the homeland, and (3) jihad for peace. These three concepts form the conceptualization of jihad based on the relationship between humans and God, the relationship between humans and humans, and the relationship between humans and the universe. This confirms the linguistic concept of jihad in the perspective of Muslims, especially the people of Aceh, that jihad is not only about war and suicide but also an inspiration to call for truth and peace.
This research examines the roots of social conflict in Aceh during the Aceh Darussalam Kingdom and conflict resolution carried out to achieve peace. The focus of the study is on literary texts of the saga genre. From some of the initial survey texts, the Hikayat Pocut Muhammad is very interesting to be used as a source of research data because the saga describes the real conditions of the people of Aceh during the Kingdom of Aceh Darussalam under the leadership of Sultan Alaidin Johansyah. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The text of the hikayat is read carefully, then coded the parts that tell about the causes of social conflict and their solutions. Data were analyzed using a hermeneutic approach. The results of the analysis show that social conflict occurs due to (1) weak leadership; and (2) weak administrative and political regulations. Conflict resolution in this saga is done by (1) mediation; (2) conciliation; and (3) coercion. Thus, this saga offers conflict resolution in the form of leadership and local wisdom. This research also strengthens the cultural literacy movement through literary texts.
This article is a study of the thoughts of Indonesian female writers towards Acehnese women as reflected in the literary works they produce. The objects used are the novel Perempuan Keumala by Endang Moerdopo (2008) and the novel Seulusoh by D. Kemalawati (2006). These two manuscripts were chosen because the background story used is about Aceh, the characters in the novel are Acehnese women. So far, it is difficult to find female Indonesian writers who highlight the social life of the female Acehnese in their stories. Thus, this study can be used as the basis for literary criticism in the field of Acehnese gynocritic feminism. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive text analysis. The theory that is used as the rationale for this study is Showalter's gynocritic literary criticism (1981 and 2000), which is now as a theory of contemporary literary criticism. The results of the analysis reflect the thoughts of Acehnese women writers on the figures of Acehnese women and Acehnese women in the view of women authors outside Aceh. The focus of the analysis includes (1) female biological elements; (2) female psychological elements; (3) female language; and (4) female culture. The results of the study show that Acehnese women in Acehnese women's literary works tend to appear as feminine figures, but are also brave, responsible, and have high social sensitivity. As for Acehnese women, in the eyes of women outside Aceh, they are described as brave, hard, responsible, and have a heroic spirit.
