ABSTRACT. An array of 3-(5-((2-oxo-2H-chromen-4-yl)thio)-4-phenyl thiazol-2-yl)-2-substitutedphenyl thiazolidin-4-one (7a-j) have been synthesized by using acetophenone, thiourea, 4-mercaptocoumarin and thioglycolic acid. The structures of these compounds were confirmed by IR, 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR and mass analysis. All the newly synthesized derivatives were evaluated for their in vitro antibacterial activity (against E. coli, P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, S. pyogenes) and antifungal activity against (C. albicans, A. niger, A. clavatus) using broth dilution technique. Some of the compounds showed good to moderate activity against the specific microbial strain.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
