The RFBY is split in two areas by the Buenaventura-Loboguerrero-Buga highway; the zone under active restoration where this study was conducted is located in the high elevation area. The area under active restoration comprises 18 % of the total area of the RFBY and includes a border zone with pastures used for livestock raising and a multipurpose area that includes gardens and a compost heap (Figure 1). Two field trips were conducted, one in the dry season in June-July, and another in the rainy season in October 2016.
