The research is based on answering the question about the possibility of applying the philosophy of distance learning in the Egyptian construction engineering education. It was concluded that, most students were more satisfied in face to face and written communication with teaching assistants, in addition other students through written and voice communication, besides they would like to receive their courses within off-campus notes, recorded lectures and classes attendance.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had profound implications for continuing medical education. Travel restrictions, lockdowns and social distancing in an effort to curb spread have meant that medical conferences have been postponed or cancelled. When the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists made the decision to commit to a fully virtual 2021 Annual Scientific Meeting, the organising committee investigated the viability of presenting a virtual ‘Can’t intubate, can’t oxygenate’ workshop. A workshop was designed comprising a lecture, case scenario discussion and demonstration of emergency front-of-neck access techniques broadcast from a central hub before participants separated into Zoom® (Zoom Video Communications, San Jose, CA, USA) breakout rooms for hands-on practice, guided by facilitators working virtually from their own home studios. Kits containing equipment including a 3D printed larynx, cannula, scalpel and bougie were sent to workshop participants in the weeks before the meeting. Participants were asked to complete pre- and post-workshop surveys. Of 42 participants, 32 responded, with the majority rating the workshop ‘better than expected’. All except two respondents felt the workshop met learning objectives. Themes of positive feedback included being impressed with the airway model, the small group size, content and delivery. Feedback focused on previously unperceived advantages of virtual technical skills workshops, including convenience, equitable access and the reusable airway model. Disadvantages noted by respondents included lack of social interaction, inability to trial more expensive airway equipment, and some limitations of the ability of facilitators to review participants’ technique. Despite limitations, in our experience, virtual workshops can be planned with innovative solutions to deliver technical skills education successfully.
The main premise of transaction cost economics is that project cost is not only production costs but there are also additional costs resulting from transactions between parties. Transaction costs include _but are not limited to_ the costs of preparing the bidding package, estimating and drawing up a contract, administering the contract, dealing with any deviations from contract conditions and any contractual problems include claims, change orders, and disputes. The main objective of this paper is to establish the factors that affecting transaction costs in construction projects in Egypt. The study was conducted on various types of construction projects in Egypt, which formed the sample size. To collect data, a questionnaire was used that was personally administered to the respondents, using emails and conducting semistructured interviews. The collected data were analyzed by using SPSS program, and a software package named IBM. The findings indicated that the most important factors affecting positively (decreasing transaction cost value) on transaction cost value in construction projects in Egypt are: 1-The good financial position of the contractor 2-Lack of claims by the contractor 3-Non-substitution of materials during implementation by contractor 4-Contractor's experience in similar type projects 5-The good relationship between the contractor and previous clients 6-Choose a more qualified contractor to do the job 7-The good relationship between the owner and contractor, designers, suppliers and government agencies 8-Implementation of the project in a stable security circumstance 9-Owner's obligation to pay the contractor in time 10-The high efficiency of communication between project parties 11-Owner's commitment to his orders and not change during execution 12-The high efficiency of the owner's organization 13-Choose the appropriate procurement method 14-Calculate the project time correctly 15-Choose the appropriate delivery type
