One of the directions of modern state policy is activities aimed at solving complex tasks for the implementation of youth policy in various areas. The key issue here is the problem of self-realization of youth, the provision of which is viewed as a factor in achieving sustainable socioeconomic development of regions and the country. The article compares the ideas of youth about self-realization, life aspirations and attitudes with those program decisions that are laid down in the documents of the regional level in the field of youth policy. The work is based on the author's applied research, including a sociological survey and a qualitative analysis of program documents in the field of youth policy for their compliance with the expectations of young people. The survey was conducted among persons aged 18 to 29 years old, living in the Pskov region. State programs in the field of youth policy at the regional level were considered as program documents. The results of the study are fully reflected in the conclusions and in the conclusion and are of interest for further sociological research of other groups of young people that are not reflected in this article.
