Asymptotic theory based on geometrical optics and physical optics is developed for 3D array-fed reflector antenna with an offset parabolic reflector. Relationships between parameters of the antenna structure and its performances are presented. Procedures of a feed array design and a cluster design are described. Radiation performances are simulated and discussed. Quality of the antenna with electrical beam steering is considered in terms of aperture efficiency and element use efficiency. Quality of the antenna with a contoured beam or multiple beams is proposed to describe in terms of coverage efficiency.
A method of antenna pattern reconstruction using sampling field data in sparse grid of points in Fresnel zone is presented. According to this method, antenna far field pattern in a desired section is reconstructed from several sections of the field in Fresnel region. Fresnel field to far field transformation is based on two-dimensional Fourier series expansion. Main features of the method are discussed. Computer simulation results are given.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
