This paper presents the results of the theoretical and experimental investigations on fiequency-temperature characteristics of plan-parallel Y-cut langasite resonators for various mass-loadmg conddons. Circular Sawyer Y-cut langasite blanks with 14mm diameter, Au electrodes with 7mm dmneter and various thicknesses were used in experiments. The resonance fiequencies were measured in the temperature range fiom -35'~ to +1 OO'C.First, second and third order of the fiequency-temperature coefficients were computed for the fundamental, third and fifth overtones. The electromechanical couplug factors were computed fiom measured fundamental and third harmonic resonance fiequencies. The dependence of the turnover temperatures at the hdamentd, third and fifth overtones of the thickness-shear vibrations with the orientation angle of the cut J' XL was also calculated. The results allow to adjust a desired turnover temperature in accordance with a specific application, and reveal that the influence of the mass-loam on fiequency-temperature characteristics of Y-cut langasite resonators is lower than in the case of AT-cut quartz resonators.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
