Students were often confused and forced into silence when they communicate in English. This condition became a problem during the teaching-learning process and may eventually lead to poor communicative competence. Inductive teaching method, which employs authentic materials can be a solution to address the aforementioned condition. The objective of this study is finding out the effects of implementing inductive teaching method. using authentic materials, to the students’ communicative competence. Participants were 61 fourth semester students (22 males and 39 females). enrolled in a three-year diploma program in Travel and Tourism Business Study Program, State Polytechnic of Bali. Data are collected through classroom action-based research procedures. By conducting a quasi-experimental design, the collected data were analyzed by paired t-tests and mixed design ANCOVA. The study reveals the English communicative competence of the students significantly increased, shown by the mean score on the post-test, namely 63.05 in the control group and 84.43 in the experimental group [t = -23.485, p=.000] at the level of p<.05. In addition, their learning motivation and interest also increased as it is shown by the result of the questionnaires. Limitations and suggestions for successful applied action-integrated instruction and implications for future research are provided.
ABSTRACT Purpose: This study aims to analyze the application of marketing mix in this case 7Ps (product, price, place, promotion, people, process, and physical evidence) in increasing the number of meetings at a 5-star hotel located in Kuta area, Bali, Indonesia. Research methods: Data collection was carried out by observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires with a total of 150 respondents from professional conference organizers who had held a meeting at the hotel. The analysis technique used in this study is qualitative and quantitative analysis. Results and discussion: The implementation of the marketing mix applied by the hotel is such as providing a meeting place including facilities and meeting equipment, providing prices following client budgets, promoting using brochures, websites, through sales calls and telemarketing, routinely checking the conditions of the meeting place. The most effective variable influencing the increase in the number of meeting events is by looking at the results of the beta standard coefficient of the largest value, namely the physical evidence variable with the largest value of 0.266 with sig 0.00 which means that the physical evidence variable most effectively influences the number of meetings Implication: The factors causing the ineffectiveness of the variable of the marketing mix based on the results of the interview are less than optimal employee performance and promotions that are carried out less and are less effective in selling meeting packages. This research aims to determine the right strategy based on factors analysis to attract tourists to stay at The Sakala Resort Bali. The problem of this research is to find out the factors attracting tourist to stay at The Sakala Resort Bali and the strategy to improve number of tourists. Sample selection of 91 respondents with probability sampling technique using simple random. Data processing was done by SPSS software version 23.0 for Windows. Analysis techniques used are factor analysis. The results showed that there are five factors affecting the decision of tourists to stay at The Sakala Resort Bali. These factors are branding, guarantee, environment, service quality, and expectation factor. The cumulative of the 5 factors is 64.616% and the accuracy of the model obtained by 43.0% with the residual 57%. The most dominant factor affects the level of customer satisfaction is the branding factor that has the highest total variant consisting of 5 variables such as the hotel name is well known, various room types, hotel has swimming pool & supporting facilities, affordable room rates, competitive room rates, and Information from the website is quite comprehensive. The strategy that can be implemented was based on the variables and each factor.
Students often got confused and felt hesitant when they speak English. This situation had caused poor speaking ability, which then lead to serious problem in the teaching-learning process. The application of scaffolding technique in the EFL learning might be the ideal solution; it had some principles that could improve the students’ speaking ability. This research is aimed at finding out the effect of the implementing Scaffolding Technique towards the students’ speaking ability. Participants were 50 (27 males and 23 females) third-semester students, enrolled in a three-year diploma program in Travel and Tourism Business, State Polytechnic of Bali in 2017/2018 academic year. The students in the experimental group were given communicative activities such as brainstorming, business games, simulation, WebQuest, problem-solving, which were carefully designed to necessitate the implementation of the scaffolding technique. The students in the control group were taught by the deductive method of the lesson book. The students’ performance in the post-test was compared for both groups in order to determine whether there were significant differences between the groups in relation to the treatment. Significant differences occurring in the experimental group’s post-test speaking performance when compared to the pre-test indicate that the implementation of scaffolding technique can improve students’ speaking ability. The result of this study indicates scaffolding technique has the potential for use in promoting students’ speaking ability
The objective of this report is to examine upper students' perceptions of multi-mode immersion toward Behaviours Intention (BI) when using E-learning in an EFL classroom. This study was a survey with a descriptive quantitative technique, and the sample consisted of only upper level students studying EFL in Bali, Indonesia. The investigation concentrated on a multimodal approach to students' BI that included text, music, images, and video, partially and concurrently. Furthermore, this study wanted to look into how E-learning is used to improve learners' EFL learning materials. The findings demonstrated that only images, text, images, and videos have a slightly favourable influence on the learners' BI. Music, on the other hand, was disliked by EFL students at higher education levels. Surprisingly, the results revealed that using many modes such as text, music, picture, and video at the same time had a substantial influence on students' willingness in the EFL classroom. The E-learning used a multimodal method that included voice, text, images, and video.
