The structure of liquid Sn 0.739 Pb 0.261 and Sn 0.57 Bi 0.43 eutectic alloys was studied by means of X-ray diffraction at several temperatures. Structure factors, pair correlation functions and the main structural parameters obtained on their basis were analyzed. We show that the structure of the Sn 0.739 Pb 0.261 and Sn 0.57 Bi 0.43 eutectic alloys is inhomogeneous and consists of different types of clusters. Upon heating the cluster structure undergoes topological and chemical disordering showing a signifi cant dependence of structural parameters on temperature near the melting point.
Structure of liquid Bi x Sn 1Àx molten alloys has been studies in the vicinity of eutectic point at temperatures of complete melting and above by 100 K. It is shown that the structure parameter concentration dependences reveal the deviation from linear function with extremum points at eutectic composition. Such features exist also at higher temperatures. The reason of untypical behaviour of structure parameters is supposed to be attributed to the existence of two kinds of clusters with Sn-and Bi-like structures.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
