The issue of Islamic radicalism and terrorism in Indonesia in the last three decades has become a very serious problem. Not only in Indonesia, the phenomenon of terrorism in the Islamic world appears as an expression of the political movement of some Muslims who make use of Islamic doctrines, political attitudes and political movements that tend to be radical and extremist. By utilizing qualitative research procedures and data collection techniques through library research, this article draws several conclusions. First, international radicalism network named Al-Qaedah and Al-Jama’ah Al-Islamiyyah have influence over terrorist network in Indonesia and other Islamic worlds. The actors are alumni of the Afghan war and a network that been fostered since the 1970s through Al-Jamaah Al-Islamiyyah. Second, contemporary Islamic radicalism and terrorism movements in Indonesia have ideological-political connections with transnational Islamic movements and ISIS in two orientations namely the khilafah and the Islamic daulah. Third, in the socio-political area, a literalist understanding of the texts to fundamentalism. Finally, Islam often becomes a political commodity. Islamic doctrine often become tools to gain power of conversely also become tools to fight against power. This article recommends that the Indonesian government support moderate Islamic movements as counter-radicalism and terrorism measure.
This study aims to describe the benefits of data collection on the SIMAM application owned by Muhammadiyah. This research uses descriptive qualitative research with unstructured interview. This research was conducted at the Muhammadiyah Central Executive Board of Waqf and Property, with the research object being the Muhammadiyah Asset Management Information System (SIMAM) application. Based on the analysis results obtained, it was found that the data collection carried out by Muhammadiyah in the application of the Muhammadiyah Asset Management Information System (SIMAM) based on sharia accounting principles was able to optimize and utilize assets owned by Muhammadiyah as part of maqoshid sharia.
Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) is a new entity resulting from the merger of Bank Syariah Mandiri, BNI Syariah, and BRI Syariah. BSI was inaugurated in February 2021 amid the global economic recession due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It has not much been explained about the fundamental data of the 3 banks that formed BSI when the recession occurred due to the Covid-19 hit. As a result, BSI's record of challenges during the global recession has not appeared much. The aim of the research is to map the challenges that BSI will face when the economic recession due to the pandemic has not ended. BSI's challenge notes are useful for BSI policymakers, so they can mitigate risks. A qualitative method Miles-Huberman model is employed to analyze the data which is done through 3 stages: data reduction, data display, and verification or conclusion. Based on data analysis, BSI will face the challenges of slow deposit and financing growth, rising non-performing financing, declining net profit, and declining sukuk ratings.
DI Yogyakarta is one of the provinces with an agricultural sector that contributes to the GRDP of the province. This is certainly in line with the potential for agricultural zakat, which is quite large. However, on the other hand, DI Yogyakarta is one of the provinces with problems related to poverty and the Gini ratio index, which is quite unequal. One of the reasons this problem later arose was that the potential for zakat was not fully realized. This study aims to determine the effect of religiosity, knowledge, income, environment, and belief on farmers’ intention to pay agricultural zakat. This research is quantitative research with a survey technique. This study sample was Muslim farmers living in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a total sample of 60 samples. The data analysis technique used is Structural Equation Modeling and Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) with analysis tools using Smart-PLS 3.0. The results of this study indicate that religiosity, income, and environment significantly positively affect farmers’ intention to pay agricultural zakat. At the same time, knowledge and trust do not affect farmers’ intention to pay agricultural zakat.
<p><span lang="EN-US">This article aims to describe the nation-building discourse and movement in Southeast Asia, particularly in Aceh-Indonesia and Pattani-Thailand. The significance of this research lies in the fact that these two regions share similar characteristics. Among them are socio-cultural and religio-political situations as conflict-affected areas with the dynamics of national discourse, and fluctuate views on national integration with the state. Islamic educational institutions in these two regions have contributed significantly in the formation of the nation-state. <em>Dayah</em> in Aceh and <em>Pondok</em> in Pattani not only serve as the centres of Islamic studies and character building for the community, but also function as the stage for social, cultural and political movements. Thus, <em>Dayah</em> and <em>Pondok</em> became the institutions to shape Islamic extremist as well as the agent to strengthen political identity. This article attempts to explain the genealogy of Islamic education and the metamorphosis of national discourse in these two regions. In addition, this article will also reveal the role of local actors in ethno-religious discourses and movements, and the response of the state and its apparatus in efforts to maintain national unity and statehood</span></p>
