AbstractWeeds are difficult to control; they are highly resistant to agrochemicals; they compete for nutrients, light and water; they can host pathogens and insect pests. The aim of this work is to list of land weeds that invade important crops of the Naranjal canton (bananas, plantains, cocoa, citrus fruits, corn and sugar cane) and to provide information about their taxonomy, place of origin, dominance and their ethnobotany data. As a result, 32 species, 24 genera and 15 botanical families are reported. Corn and citrus fruits had the highest weed infestation percentage Cynodon dactylon (goose foot) and Chamaesyce hirta (dairy) showed the highest dominance. Based on the information obtained, it is expected to design and plan efficient strategies for integrated weed management in the Naranjal canton.
